B1G is just nasty this year. Too bad no B1G-ACC challenge. We might have swept em!

1 Gonzaga
2 Baylor
3 Iowa
4 Wisconsin
5 Illinois
6 Duke
7 Kansas
8 Michigan State
9 Creighton
10 Houston

Wouldn't it be crazy is there were 4 B10 teams in the Top 3?

1. Illinois beats Baylor (#2) on 12/2. Baylor beats Gonzaga (#1) on 12/5 (This puts Illinois in our rightful spot @ #1 and drops Gonzaga & Baylor from the Top 3)
2. Iowa beats Western Illinois on 12/3. (Moves Iowa up to #2)
3. Wisconsin beats Green Bay on 12/1 and Marquette on 12/4. (Moves Wisconsin to #3)
4. Michigan State beats Duke (#6) on 12/1 and Detroit Mercy on 12/4. (The Duke win gives MSU enough votes to tie Wisconsin at #3).

The AP rankings are always wacky this early on in the season. They won't drop Iowa until they lose, and they started them out this high because Garza is a leader in the NPOY race.

I find it bizarre, based on the eyeball test applied to last weeks games, to put Iowa ahead of either IL or Wiscy.
MSU Illinois and Wisconsin are more athletic than Iowa. They'll give Iowa problems with their length and athleticism.Iowa is not very good on defense, but can score but defense wins championships.

Anyone notice KenPom has us at #22 and the 6th ranked Big Ten team?

KenPom is a quantitative efficiency measure and so is only as good as the quality and quantity of data it is fed and it doesn't take into account things like how many players pulled decided not to enter the draft and return to school. So far we blew out two of the worst teams in Division 1 and barely squeaked by one that is honestly pretty decent. That's not a lot of data to go on and certainly not a resume that would give a quantitative metric like his a lot of confidence in us.

In short, give it time. As long as we play the way we all think we will, it will zero in on a number more in line with what the AP voters think (if not exactly).

I'm willing to concede that we're probably ranked a little high at 5, but I don't think there are 15 (let alone 20) teams that should be ranked ahead of us this year. I think we're pretty good, and we'll improve over the course of the season. Our upcoming slate of games will provide us with a chance to show our quality.

I would think in your scenario, that Baylor would retain the #2 ranking, and Gonzaga probably still in there near the top somewhere.

Makes as much sense as my son's rounding math exercise I tried to help him with the other night
