He was only able to get players due to a first-mover advantage in the transfer market, and he played new rules NCAA basketball as those new rules were arriving.

His Iowa State program was a view into the future, but now it's the present and he's just an ordinary coach and below average recruiter in a very tough job.
His coaching schemes did well while at ISU. It was good enough to beat Self and Drew on a regular basis. Yes, he took advantage of the transfer market but guys like Niange, Thomas and Morris were the staples and werent transfers. So the bulls thing didn’t work out but he is still a good coach. Neb is a really tough place to coach. Period.
