Watched the Purdue game with my nephew who is a Purdue fan. He commented that "our coach looks intimidating".
Sitting in our seats 5 years ago and watching him come out of halftime with a bandaged hand because he had punched out a trash can told me that our coach was "different". Opposing fans really dislike him I believe because he is beyond intense and starting to turn things around but what really rubs them raw is our ability to win road games. Coming into your gym and going out with another victory just gets under the skin of fan bases.

I was hoping for a bench clearing brawl resulting in numerous multi-game suspensions. Oh well.
I'm surprised a brawl didn't happen in the loosiers - msu game .......Hoggard , from msu got ejected for getting 2 tech's and Woodson was using some choice language on the lil BOpeepee'ers.................................B1G refs are so terrible ................

I think he is the only coach in their history to win a Big 12 title and he did it twice. He also took them to the elite 8 one of the only 2 times in the last 30 years. That is not a great basketball program and they are lucky to have him imo. Weber also won 2 outright Big Ten titles and 2 Missouri Valley championships. How many coaches have won multiple titles for 3 different conferences? I really don't understand all the hate for Weber considering what he did for us. I blame Paul Klee for all the hate. Klee really didn't like Weber and was such a good writer that he somehow convinced most of Illini Nation that the ONLY coach in modern history to take the Illini to a championship game and holds the Illini record for wins in a season, was a bad coach. With all that said I am happy that we ended up with BFU but still...
Pretty certain it's his poor recruiting and demeanor on the bench being butthurt (instead of ready to hurt butt) by the refs. But he will always be the coach that took us closer to the promised land than any other.

What the heck happened to Iowa State? Went from undefeated and ranked in the top 10 to losing at home to Kansas State and being last place in the Big 12.
They beat Iowa and thought they were all that.

Not sure why people are scared of Rutgers. We much up well with them. I guess I'm a fan who doesn't get scared of any team. We pretty good too.
It's all starts with their much improved man in the middle, Omoruyi.

Lots of Big 8 championships for KSU so it's probably only Big 12 that they're talking about . so about 25 years or so.

Weber did plenty of whining and I think that's what soured people on him. It seemed like he was often blaming others for his shortcomings.

Magical season, so I think you're right he deserves a lot of respect for that. But he didn't go out well, and that's really on him IMO.

For me I didn’t like the funeral, poor recruiting, scoring in the 30’s, and not being relevant after Self recruits moved on.

Good coach who was good for 18-20 wins a year but coming out of the several years before he got here, wanted to build on the previous years. He led run in 2005 and it was down from there.

During Groce years many were wishing squeaky was still here.

Loved Brad hire and fells like after 15 year pause we are finally building on the early 2000 success

Agreed- he was obviously a good coach - he wouldn’t have won this much in different places without being a good coach- recruiting was brutal to see go downhill that fast, but good players beget other good players and he just couldn’t capitalize on our 2-3 good years in the limelight- IDKWTI was likely his downfall with 20/20 hindsight, not just because he didn’t come here but the players who went elsewhere because he committed to us (Shannon Brown for one) absolutely a downward spiral he never recovered from

I mean you aren’t wrong, but Shannon Brown was in the NBA before Eric Gordon got to college. I think you’re thinking Evan Turner.
