2/28 Games

Illini have officially clinched top 2 seed in B1G Tournament. Michigan only has to win Tuesday night to clinch 1 seed. Illinois has to win Tuesday and Saturday and hope Michigan loses at least one of their games against Michigan State to get the 1 seed.

Was anyone watching the game at the end of OSU and Iowa? I could of swore the announcer said the rankings were "going to sh**" after this week.

Iowa did a great job of punishing Ohio State and moving the ball quickly when Lidell and Young would double-team Garza.

OSU falling off the 1-seed line. Probably temporarily elevates us into that spot.
I believe we are going to be #4 in tomorrow's poll for sure. #6 Alabama and #8 Villanova both lost a game in the past week, and #7 Oklahoma lost 2. And it is certainly impossible for them to place #9 Iowa ahead of us.

For Illinois to get the BTT 1 seed, they would need a win Tuesday, a win Saturday, and two MSU wins over the weekend. Illinois is 14-4 in conference, Michigan is 13-1.

I doubt they’ll give the nod to Iowa over us, when Iowa also lost a game by 22 this week.

We’ll also have the better overall record, more Quad 1 wins, and the win in our only head to head matchup.

OSU losing guarantees an Illinois 2 seed in the B1G tournament I believe.
Believe you are correct , even if Iowa wins out and Illinois drops both next week , the Illini` and Hawkeyes would finish same conference record with only matchup the Illini` winning head to head...looking forward to both games vs Michigan and Ohio State these games will only "sharpen the axe" for the Illini` moving towards tourney play.
This years team will no doubt have played a incredible schedule at this point in the season , going into the Big Tourney and NCAA Tourney...as they say "Battle Tested"

Michigan would still have a better winning % in that case though right? .823 to .800. I’m not seeing how we get the 1 seed.

Iowa restores the thought that the 4 best non-Gonzaga/Baylor teams all reside in the B1G.

Though West Virginia and Houston are also in the conversation.

I’m guessing the top 5 in tomorrow’s rankings will be:

1. Zaga
2. Michigan
3. Baylor
4. Illinois
5. West Virginia
And Iowa just might jump Ohio State also..... #9 just beat #4 on their floor by double digits and moved ahead of them in the league....

Our schedule has been nuts this year.

We’re currently sitting at 18 quad 1&2 games this year.

If we win at least one game of the B1G tourney, we’d be at 22 Quad 1&2 games.

For context:

Baylor has played 7 Q1&2 games so far.
Houston has played 8.
Villanova has played 11.

We’ve played more Q1 games (13) than those 3 teams have played Q1&2 games.

Most big ten games are quad ones at this point
