We want purdue to beat the teams around us, we aren't catching them.
This is the correct view.

This Rutgers game on Sat. is the biggest game so far....for both teams. There is little margin for error, if any, and winning games will grow in importance each week. It may be a good thing that the guys are rested, but this group is like a box of chocolates. It will be a rock fight for sure as Rutgers is playing for the same group of motivating factors. Sure wish we could shoot free throws with some consistency, keep TOs in single digits, and Hawkins understood he has to score in the paint. But those have little probability of happening overnight so we will just have to take what we get.

Really need to Ohio State to beat Northwestern ... couple different ways one could look at the Iowa/Purdue game, I guess, but I would imagine we want Iowa to lose so we have a better chance of emerging into a top four spot? Our loss in Iowa City will remain Quad 1 no matter what, and it'd take a miracle for us to catch Purdue. Reminder of the current standings:

1. Purdue: 11-2
2. Indiana: 8-5
2. Rutgers: 8-5
2. Michigan: 8-5
3. Illinois: 7-5
3. Northwestern: 7-5
3. Iowa: 7-5
4. Maryland: 7-6
4. Michigan State: 7-6
5. Wisconsin: 6-7
6. Penn State: 5-8
7. Nebraska: 4-10
8. Ohio State: 3-9
9. Minnesota: 1-11

Purdue and Ohio State winning tonight puts us alone in third. Assuming both happen, the standings before this weekend's games look like this:

1. Purdue: 12-2
2. Indiana: 8-5
2. Rutgers: 8-5
2. Michigan: 8-5
3. Illinois: 7-5
4. Maryland: 7-6
4. Northwestern: 7-6
4. Iowa: 7-6
4. Michigan State: 7-6
5. Wisconsin: 6-7
6. Penn State: 5-8
7. Ohio State: 4-9
8. Nebraska: 4-10
9. Minnesota: 1-11

And a (once again) huge slate of games that could shake things up (records using the standings assume Purdue and OSU win tonight...).

#24 Rutgers (8-5) at Illinois (7-5)
Penn State (5-8) at Maryland (7-6)
Wisconsin (6-7) at Nebraska (4-10)
#18 Indiana (8-5) at Michigan (8-5)

Iowa (7-6) at Minnesota (1-11)
Michigan State (7-6) at Ohio State (4-9)
#1 Purdue (12-2) at Northwestern (7-6)

Needless to say, our game against Rutgers is huge. I can't decide if I want Michigan to beat Indiana ... I will be SO mad if a 12-seed Michigan sneaks into another Sweet Sixteen while we don't, lol. Just for more fun, if Illinois, Maryland, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, MSU and Purdue win above, THESE would be the standings on Monday:

1. Purdue: 13-2
2. Indiana: 9-5
3. Illinois: 8-5
4. Rutgers: 8-6
4. Maryland: 8-6
4. Michigan State: 8-6
4. Iowa: 8-6
4. Michigan: 8-6
5. Northwestern: 7-7
5. Wisconsin: 7-7
6. Penn State: 5-9
7. Ohio State: 4-10
8. Nebraska: 4-11
9. Minnesota: 1-11

Absolutely insane year in this conference.
Purdue & Ohio St winning tonight would have put us alone in 5th*.

When there’s a tie in front of you, each team still counts as a ranking.

So it would’ve gone:

1. Purdue: 12-2
2. Indiana: 8-5
2. Rutgers: 8-5
4. Michigan: 8-5
5. Illinois: 7-5
6. Maryland: 7-6
6. Northwestern: 7-6
6. Iowa: 7-6
6. Michigan State: 7-6
10. Wisconsin: 6-7
11. Penn State: 5-8
12. Ohio State: 4-9
13. Nebraska: 4-10
14. Minnesota: 1-11

I think we’ll win by double figures.

From your keyboard to God’s eyes … that would make me SO happy.

Wife is working Saturday (ICU RN), and I’m going to order Buffalo Wild Wings (Asian Zing) and drink my cask beer as I watch our Every Day Guys. When I watch a game alone, the emotions - win or lose - are extra amplified after that final buzzer. So I’m EXTREMELY pumped and pretty nervous.

exciting finish to X-Butler last 35 seconds. X down 5, hits 3, Butler's guard loses balance and ball, X gets it and call TO with none left, so T. 2 made FTs. X hits 3. 1 made FT and a miss. Butler intentionally fouls??? ... 2 made FTs by X to tie. 8 seconds left, missed jam called for goaltending with 2 secs left. last shot just an couple inches long
