2016 NFL Draft

#76

Hoppy2105

Little Rock, Arkansas
Just as a side note, our last draftees were all in 2013.

Hugh Thornton - Round 3 - 86th overall pick
Akeem Spence - Round 4 - 100th overall pick
Terry Hawthorn - Round 5 - 150th overall pick
Michael Buchanan - Round 7 - 226th overall pick

We haven't had any in the last two drafts (2014 and 2015) which would correspond to the recruiting cliff we fell off of in Zook's last two years. If you look at the program Beckman inherited objectively (even if you didn't like the guy) he took over a program about to die and was asked to revive it. A tough job for any coach.

At least Lovie was given a team with some talent and at least a little bit of depth. (not much but a little)

Looking forward to seeing where Ward goes - hoping to hear his name tonight! Met him with my kids at Rantoul two years ago. I was so impressed with him and his character. He spent several minutes after practice talking to my boys, asking them about football and stressing the importance of school. Wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up!

7 Round mock draft from Fox:

I agree with the rounds these players are predicted to be drafted in.. Fej will be the 2nd Illini taken. Chargers to replace Weddle? I predict someone will take Karras in the 7th. Colts? Jags?

The bears must have really liked Floyd. Seems odd to trade a fourth round pick to move up two spots.

Anyone want to bet that Ole Miss receives zero discipline for the Tunsil activity?

If Tunsil's team knew about this "hack" (which apparently was part of a blackmail scheme), boy did they fail him from a PR standpoint. ONe of the most uncomfortable set of interviews I've ever seen on a draft day. This experience should be in the "What Not to Do" section of "PR 101".

Ward will not get past the colts pick. He fills a huge need at olb and pass rusher that they haven't had for a couple years now. Got the OL in 1st rd and if Ward makes it to them he will be drafted by them

What, Ole Miss is a blueblood now?

Ole Miss has the same problem Illinois did in the 80's. Their success is making a lot of people more politically powerful and influential than they are very angry. Nobody is going to come to their defense if these allegations have legs.

EDIT: I just want to be clear how absolutely ridiculous it is that A. a college kid smoking marijuana and B. a massively valuable and grossly underpaid employee in an $87 million company asking his bosses for a couple hundred bucks to pay the rent are somehow being treated as scandals.

They'll lose scholarships. They're already about to lose some from the Houston nutt days.

OLB? Do you know how big he is? 300 lb is way too heavy for OLB. Ward is DE in a 3-4.

Love the Bears draft so far and how they're stockpiling picks. Ryan Pace and his staff have really got this team headed in the right direction.

Let's see who they pick first. And revisit after a couple of seasons. #41 is a lot different than #56.
