Why is Chastain leaving Loyola? He was getting playing time before the injury. Wonder what changed.

He was only getting garbage time minutes in ultra-blowouts.http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/4067022/matt-chastainhttp://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4067022/matt-chastain
And Loyola is bringing in a great class, including two 2 guards --Williamson and this juco guy http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...college-transfer-spt-0427-20170426-story.html
So maybe he didn't see much playing time ahead. Or maybe Chicago was just too big. Some small town kids love the big city, some don't.

No this is serious. Lets take the guy that couldn't get minutes at Loyola before getting hurt. Underrated player for sure.

Wow, if Alstork comes here we're going to have a super-small and really fast-paced guard-led team next year. Would be fantastic to have an athletic Center in the middle who can swat away shots and also run the court!

I think most of our blocks will come from weak side help, unless of course we can find a couple Nanna Egwu clones out there

Without another big it will be hard to make the tourney. We would only have Finke and Black and neither is a post defender. What potential options are still out there at this late a date?

With just Finke and Black as bigs we are likely to struggle to make the tourney neither is the type of post defender or rim protector teams need. At this late date what options are still out there BU needs to find someone if at all possible?

If we go small our opponents will have to defend our small lineup. It works both ways. Ideally we do get another big man but we aren't doomed if we don't.

We are not "doomed" but it will be hard to make the tourney. Injuries and foul trouble happen.

I wonder if LaTulip has been in his ear about Illinois at all. 6-5, 190 22 year old high scoring wing with guard skills. Could be a really good replacement for Malcolm's scoring while Smith, Frazier et al get up to speed in the college game. If he wants to come for one season, take him. Still time and scholarships to find a serviceable big transfer or maybe a certain high ranked kid from a couple hours southwest of Champaign... ;)

Perhaps more importantly, Nagy (his coach) may be helping us out too --- given his strong ties to the Illini. Perhaps some reciprocity for us sending LaTulip his way!

So easy to talk about playing small or up tempo this time of year; so hard to do against a quality BIG opponent.

I can't get really excited about Finke at the 5 against a good big. He's no James Augustine, who wasn't big enough when push came to shove.

I have not seen him mentioned here (but my memory is not what it used to be) but thought I would post it anyway

Former St. John's transfer Malik Ellison committed to Pitt

Another one I haven't seen on the board but Mount St. Mary's transfer Elijah Long committed to Texas. Mount St. Mary's has lost about 5 or 6 players to transfers right after making the tourney.
