2020-21 Illini Men's Golf

Illini chasing. Both teams have 3 golfers with a total of 4 holes to play. Worse yet, iowa's 3 golfers are even par on the day while Illinois is +4. Odds favor the squawks, but never give up!

Edit:. And then with an update, we're tied . Don't know how or why

I-N-I!!! Fantastic tournament, Illini! Congratulations! Today was a great day! So glad to see Gio rebound today back to his old self to tie for 29th (up 23 spots!) with an amazing and huge round of -1, an awesome round from Michael (5th place) at even par, and really solid rounds with a +1 from Tommy (tied for 10th!!!), and Jerry (tied for 16th), Adrien at +2 (tied for 2nd!!!). On to the NCAAs!

What a tremendous victory. Top 12 out of 15 rounds sored for each team and just a single shot seperated them at the end. The Illini were so clutch down the stretch. Amazing effort, and great result!

Fantastic comeback
.
I don't know if Illini win qualifies as a comeback (I've said the same). Mincing words. Illini held steady while Ioway faltered. What did Coach Small say to his players to get them to right the ship?

Anyway, I urge golf fans to attend or volunteer at Palmer Cup at Rich Harvest Farms, Sugar Grove, in June. Last time I was at Palmer there, 2015?, I chatted with Thomas Detry, wished him well and a national championship for Illini. The player next to him overheard me and said "No Way!" What a creep, I thought. That creep: none other than Jon Rahm!

I was going to go to the Palmer Cup at Rich Harvest Farms but I reviewed the website and it had the following: the 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup will not be open to the general public. I don't know if they are asking for volunteers.

Adrien Dumont De Chassart is on the International Team this year.

I was hoping Illini would go to Noblesville regional. I might have traveled to watch them. Good news: Feagles and Tadiotto have experience at Karsten Creek from 2018 NCAA Championship, I think.

I didn't noice that Palmer Cup isn't open to the general public.

But you can volunteer; I have as a shuttle driver all three days.

Just contact Vicky, RHF director of golf, at vmcgowan@richharvestfarms.com.

Just be one of five teams to make it out of Stillwater and on to Grayhawk, How do you beat Oklahoma State, a powerhouse program that's playing on its home course yet again in a major tournament? Quite a challenge. But do not surrender. Give it the old college try. Play well, Illini.

Illinois hasn't been too shabby either over the last decade or so. The powerhouse of the north.

I hope (and I'm sure) Feagles and Tadiotto will help the team with tips on how to play Karsten Creek. I know Coach Small will. Some great experience there.
