2021-22 Illini Men's Golf

I was reading an article today that said Adrien and Tommy could come back for one more year, if they want. I believe it would be the extra "Covid year" like other sports have gotten.

Yes, all indications are that ADC and Kuhl will return. Illini Inquirer guy reported same today.

Nice woman at Illini golf office is on maternity leave. Congrats.

Was gonna ask her if Coach Small plans to play at Amfam senior in Madison early June. I bet he will; how can he turn down an invite from former teammate Steve Stricker?

Good news about ADC and Tommy returning. There is also a high school kid from California (Ryan Voois) coming in next season- I did some research on him and his junior golf stats are impressive đź‘Ź.

Just got a 5th year transfer from SIU ( by way of Belgium). Had a scoring average this year of 70.5 which would be number two on the all time list at Illinois behind ADC and just ahead of Feagles Don't know if you can make direct comparisons like that from different schools and conferences but hopefully he can solidify our lineup.

Nice. I would think that scoring avg. compares much better in golf than other sports. Is the course setup basically the same across conferences and schools?

This kid looks like a winner. He was in the NCAA Columbus Regional this year and shot a respectable 74, 75, 69. Also nice to get another Belgian, as they have had success here. You have to figure this kid will be one of our top 5 golfers next year. The question is who will he replace in the lineup?

I would have to say no. The top division 1 teams are playing courses that a quite a bit more difficult in general. He clearly is a very good player and certainly should help though.
ADC, Hunt and Kuhl should be part of the starting 5 for sure. Ji, Buchanan, Besard, Voois and Lang should provide a lot of healthy competition for that 4th and 5th spot.

yeah you can make pretty good comparisons with those scores. Competition is as high but courses are totally comparable. This is a great get for the program. Wow. I guess Small wasn't a huge fan of missing the ncaa finals.

Just looked at the golf stat rankings for individual men and Besard is ranked 168. For reference Hunt from Illinois was at 145. Not sure what kind of system they use but that sounds about right to me. đź‘Ť. Great addition.
