60 percent of nba teams play undersized centers. You are telling me kofi can’t score regularly down in the post against the undersized guys?

NBA teams want lengthy, agile centers who can shoot the three, pass, and guard the perimeter. Kofi doesn’t really check any of those boxes unfortunately.

Look, Kofi is a center of a bygone era in the NBA. Kofi can't shoot outside of 10 feet. And his defense, especially in drop coverage, leaves A LOT to be desired.

He can't run up and down the floor. Any opposing team worth their salt will run his butt ragged up and down the court in transition with those undersized centers.

Bam Adebayo, Rudy Gobert, Robert Williams III, Joel Embiid, Deandre Ayton, Brook Lopez, KAT, Clint Capela, Steven Adams, Jusuf Nurkic, Myles Turner are the matchups where I wouldn’t side with Kofi on offense. So that’s already 37% of the league, and I’m probably forgetting/underselling others.

Kofi definitely deserves a 2-way deal. Hopefully with Bulls.
I really like the Terry pick. I think his relatively modest production scoring wise at Arizona may have put some a little off, but he seems to be a highly competent shooter, rebounder, and distributer. I think he'll learn a lot and progress nicely working with DeRozan and the other older players.
I hope so but 2-way deals are hard to come by. Each team only gets 2. If NBA front offices thought he was worthy of a 2-way, they'd probably have taken him in the 2nd round, so he'll likely have to convince whatever team he signs for to use one on him over a more experienced player or a drafted player. (And yes, I know Bulls didn't pass on him as they did not have 2nd round pick, but what aren't the odds that their scouts see him that differently from the consensus).
In some respects it might also be better not to get a 2-way. If you're not on a 2-way, another team can sign you when they have a need. That's how Malcolm Hill ended up on the Bulls. Might be an easier path ro the League.
What is even the point of saying this? Nobody is saying Kofi is able to matchup well with Jokic. Almost nobody matches up well with Jokic. This horse is beat dude. Let it die.

Seems that Bulls signed the 2-way deal with Justin Lewis of Marquette. A solid player based on the only game I watched him play (with us). I guess Kofi will at least earn a spot in the summer league somewhere, and he can prove his capability as a pro player.
Kofi should have come back. Would have been great for us and good for him. Hopefully he can land in a favorable spot for summer league. G League is tough but gotta keep grinding.
First of all, Kofi may not be the brand of center NBA teams clamor for now, but I do think there is a role for him in the NBA. He picked up basketball late, is an underrated athlete, and is a instinctive rebounder and explosive dunker. If he maintains the work ethic he has shown and stays coachable then I can promise you his book is still being written.
On another note, let’s take a step back and enjoy the success of this team. There were 9 BIG players drafted tonight, 4 in the first round, 3 in the top 10, and none were Illini. Yet it is undebatable we were one of the top three teams in the conference. We’re now getting the talent. I don’t think the successes from the past few years are a blip.

Yes I agree that the modern nba doesn’t fit kofi’s game unlike 15 years ago. But I think he can provide value on the right team in the right role. We’re talking against backup undersized centers. If he can find a way to contribute defensively (think brook lopez), he can provide value offensively. This won’t happen right away, but i think it’sa worthwhile shot for an undrafted free agent. And if you can get that value at minimal cost, that can help a team
Kofi wouldn’t be matched against these guys, but their backups. Kofi can’t score on the Justin dedmons and the Tristan thompsons of the world? I think he would at a good rate
There is definitely one takeaway that is positive, I agree, we rave about how successful Underwood has been, our rivals say we're a flash in the pan and will be back in the Groce years soon.. but Illinois has won the most Big Ten Games the last 3 years and has exactly one 2nd round draft pick in that timeframe in the entire Underwood era so far. Michigan has had like 7 drafted players in that timeframe. With our recruiting getting where it is, it's inevitable more NBA Draft Picks are to come. Brighter days could still very well be ahead.

It doesn’t matter what kofi scores. Teams will make him guard pick and rolls and once there’s help and rotation, they’re scoring 3 while kofi scores 2.
If brook lopez can be an asset on defense, i don’t see why kofi cant do the same with some experience and development
