2024 Chicago White Sox

White Sox bats erupted for two hits against Cincinnati today... two. And one of those was a meaningless hit in the 9th inning by a guy who promptly... got picked off base.

And forget about any runs.

Sox started the game with a Leadoff man hitting .182... a Number Two hitter batting .196... a Cleanup man batting .167... a Shortstop hitting .179... and a Catcher hitting .077.

Sox season record now 2 wins... 12 losses.
Ho hum….another shutout.

To think just three years ago they went from AL Central champs with the arrow pointed upward as legit WS contenders to...whatever the hell you want to call this three years later.

Perpetual rainouts might be the only way to salvage this season.

Or, the river of tears being shed by White Sox fans that flood the field when seeing how badly our dearly beloved ball club has been owned and managed into the sub-basement of Major League Baseball since Bill Veeck gave up control. A once-proud franchise now driven into the dirt at 35th Street & The Ryan.

Or maybe this Summer, we just laugh to keep from crying. At least that would keep the field more dry.

Sox just played a completely embarrassing three-game series. In badly losing all three games to the Reds... Cincinnati outscored Reinsdorf’s Retreads 27 to 5 (or was this the Bengals over the Bears with the Bear defense getting that safety?).

And the Reds stole bases today at will against helpless White Sox pitchers and catchers. The Reds wont have get their outfield running in for a while... they got their running in on the base paths against the White Sox.

But there was some good news! Benintendi got his batting average up to .145!

Sox fans... I think we know we need to brace ourselves for one of the worst Sox seasons of all time.

The Bad:

Some sports outlets are noting that the White Sox record is now 2-13 – the worst 15-game start in club history. And this ball club has been around for 124 years.

The Silver Lining (?):

No White Sox player (or the illustrious White Sox owner) will miss their regular income checks for this or any other week so all of their multiple-millions of dollars coming to them is SAFE! How fortunate for them. Which is more than can be said for White Sox baserunners trying to steal a base this season.

The Smartest Man (formerly) in Chicago:

Jason Benetti. He got out of town before this South Side disaster started so he does not have to spend all Summer trying to call games without actually having to say how bad this team really is. This is going to be one hellatious season for Sox broadcasters who are not allowed to speak honestly about the team.

The Big Picture:

If the White Sox Owner really is trying to kill off the franchise in Chicago so he can move it... he’s doing a great job of that.

Jason Benette was a year too late to be considered clairvoyant.

As all Sox fans are bracing for one of the worst seasons of baseball ever seen on Planet Earth... let’s put the spotlight on one positive that has emerged from this new Season. And his name is John Schriffen – the new Sox TV play-by-play broadcaster.

John brings a light touch and informative, carefree style to the Sox broadcast booth that will help to make this 2024 White Sox Season From Hell more tolerable and entertaining.

He seems to know baseball and is eager to learn more. And he appreciates the opportunity given to him to be a TV voice of what remains one of the great legacy franchises of the Major Leagues even with the pathetic ownership that still plagues a once-great franchise with some of the very best baseball fans ever born.

And even John’s broadcast partner Steve Stone ... who’s been around Major League Baseball since Tommy John was still throwing baseballs for the Sox and Bee Bee Richard was trying to play shortstop... seems more refreshed apart from the sometimes heavy and all-too-chummy delivery of Jason Benetti who now has a perch in Detroit City to call Dah-Ty-Gahs.

Thanks for taking this Sox job, John. We appreciate you and your raw courage on taking on this tough assignment of broadcasting a bad baseball team and making it sound interesting.

You – like Sox fans everywhere – deserve much, much better than what we will see on the field. Maybe one day we'll even see that day.

Ok then…..on pace for 63 shutouts this year….double the not so envious record…we got that going for us….which is nice.

The worst season in White Sox history was in 1932 when the Sox finished 49-102. I will be tracking the progress of the 2024 Sox against those 1932 Sox.

As of this morning... the 2024 Sox are 3 wins and 16 losses.

The 1932 Sox after the same number of games were 5 wins and 14 losses.

So far, today's Sox are 2 games worse than those of the worst season to date.

Is it bad that I'm upset the Sox scored in the 9th and didn't get shutout yesterday? I want all the records of futility. :ROFLMAO:

Jerry's reaping his harvest of shame. You plant bad seeds... you get bad crops. And really bad ball clubs.

Sox fans don't deserve this.

Once we had Looie... the flash who could steal us a base.
And with him was Nellie... with leaf chew bulging in face.
The wins were aplenty. The stands never empty.
A team right there in the Pennant Race.

Now we got nothin’... no one to steal us a base.
The Season’s just started... and already a waste.
The winning’s all gone. Sox move to Hong Kong?
And Jerry just spits in our face.

Burma Shave.

There’s only one thing that can save this Season for Sox fans. And this one thing will NOT happen on the ball field.

The only thing that will save this Season from being just a long stay in Hades is an announcement that the Sox have in fact secured a solid agreement for that new South Loop ball park.

The Bears are announcing their plans for the new Lakefront Stadium. Now it’s the Sox turn. This would bring some hope and positivity to the fans and players in otherwise dismal march through losing and futility.

No, this won’t solve that OTHER real big problem the Sox have. But this is a solid start.

I think both teams have a LONG WAYS TO GO with the money part of this .

The Sox at least have a realistic choice for a location . The Bears have many hurdles to cross before they even have a chance of building on the lakefront
