No worries. Your original point still stands! I just wanted to point out that they were, at least, neutral court wins.

So the pandemic robbed us of the Big Ten Tournament & NCAA Tournament in 2020, but now we are getting the fond memories of this 2020-2021 team and how well they are doing! Unforgettable!

I can think of maybe 3 games where I could smile the whole game. Any other game the entire season, I'm taking antacids the whole time. The Illini have always been capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. This is why I don't want us to play Gonzaga. Overrated as they may be, I'd like to sit back in my chair as opposed to being on the edge of it.

Absolutely love it. For those who don't think rankings matter, go look at any Instagram or other social media feed of a generic college basketball page. I don't say this to be mean (we were all young once!), but there are literally millions of impressionable young college basketball fans who know VERY little about history/tradition of programs, and they are forming their impressions of the "good programs" right now. While I might have grown up thinking a program like Wake Forest was "usually good," kids these days have literally no idea someone like Chris Paul was ever there and just think of them as a bottom-of-the-ACC program. This includes future recruits, and it is AWESOME seeing post after post talking about how good Illinois is. :)

And you think that when we play whomever beat Gonzaga you will be able to relax? Ain't happenin' my friend.

Is this the first time since the NC game in 05 that we have been ranked 2nd?

I think the thing I love the most about this team is how hungry they are. They started slow last year and again this year, but Underwood has pulled all the right levers and that includes recruiting the right guys.
