3 total fouls in the first 17+ minutes of the 1st half. I admittedly haven't been paying close attention, but seems like these refs must be letting them play some.

I would presume that the most interest for those of us on this board is the Spartans/Bruins match-up. As much as I dislike MSU, still gotta pull for the Big 10 team.

I don’t really understand how big ten teams winning is valuable for us. I wanna see them all go down. MSU & Izzo especially.

A rising tide lifts all boats. B1G teams winning makes the entire conference more attractive to recruits.
Is that true, though? If I remember correctly, we were recruiting at an extremely high level leading up to the 2005 season, yet the Big Ten overall was not nearly as strong as it was this season.

Kentucky recruits at a very high level, yet most seasons the SEC isn’t a very strong conference.

I'm actually kinda rooting for all the B10 teams to do well and advance as far as they can while allowing for the Illini to win the whole thing.

Except Izzo. I hope they get blown out today. I'll feel better about them next year, but what they did to Ayo and Izzo's response to it gives me a sour taste that has lasted the rest of this season.

Mount St. Mary's Chong Qui is fun to watch. Some nice assists in the second half.

I just think the better any Big 10 team does, the better it looks for the Illini, the REAL Big 10 champions.

It's hard to compare because there were only 11 schools in 04/05, but the conference made a good showing. 5/11 teams in the tournament. Wisconsin in the Elite 8. Illinois and Michigan State in the Final Four and of course the NC game.

Can we just all go ahead and agree that one of the most annoying trends in basketball today is the untucking of the shirt?

Player from Wichita State makes a bucket and starts unluckily his shirt on way to bench for a timeout.

Why? Just Why?

knowing that they recruit heavily in our ”pond”, I’d rather Michigan State and Michigan didn’t fare well at all. These kids can’t see for themselves that the Illini are a highly talented and well coached team without our competition doing well. EB leaving MS and meeting with our coaches is proof of that.

For two years in a row now, recruits have been hearing about how the B1G is the best basketball conference in the country. That kind of success is built on the competitiveness of each individual program. A strong conference should also contribute to better preparation for postseason play. It's the difference between being Gonzaga coming out of their two-bid conference, and us coming out of our nine-bid conference. Being top dog as a conference also gets us more national TV time and all kinds of positive press. I think there are very few downsides.

We’re having no trouble getting the attention of some highly sought after recruits. I hope the big dogs continue to struggle; no matter what conference they’re in. That includes the top Big Ten teams. Let’s show AJ Casey who can give him the best development and success.

Unfortunately, recruiting high school athletes is, like recruiting in the business sector, not a one size fits all. Recruits respond to different sales pitches. How else can you explain Mizzou. <insert funny face here.>

Drake not exactly making the Valley look good here. Hope that bodes well for Loyola not being that strong if we play them Sunday.

On a side note, it's really weird to see Mackey Arena and Assembly Hall with the different courts and none of the Purdue and Indiana fans.

Im so old, I can vividly remember when the court floors were left as is from the host's regular floor, and host schools back then were allowed to have their own team play at "home" .
see Rupp Arena 1984, Illini V Kentucky, Elite Eight game.
Pretty sure that was the game that changed the rules about hosting games with your own team.
