Iowa State loses to Oklahoma State at home on their senior night. 53-36.
Prince And The Revolution No GIF by Prince
Only put out 16pts in the second half. That was ugly.

Can someone explain to me how Xavier is not on the bubble? They are 17-12 after this loss to St.John’s with a conf record of 7-11 and are somehow still in most bracket projections. Am I missing something?
At johns is a top 75 NET so a Q1 loss.

Looked briefly, but Xavier hung really close in quite a few of those losses to highly ranked teams - so their NET ranking is quite favorable.

They are also 8-3 outside of Q1, so part of their record is attributed to a pretty tough non conference schedule and a conference schedule featuring nova and providence.

That’s my best guess at least. They did beat OSU and were ranked pretty solid early on. 5 straight losses make their record look pretty bad though.

Yea they do have decently tough schedule but they don’t have too many great wins imo. OSU and UConn are good but other than that they don’t have too many other great wins. Just feel like teams like Rutgers, SDSU, Oregon, and even scUM are way better and more deserving of getting in

I think the 5 straight losses hide that fact that they are a pretty decent team. It’s easy to pick on that and forget the other games. I’ve watched a few of thier games this year and when they get hot, I wouldn’t want to face them. One of the teams I’d like to avoid from the big east. (I do they the Big East is over rated)

Should be a pretty decent case study of:

Does the committee respect a challenging schedule that causes a few extra losses, or is that all BS and you should schedule a bunch of cupcakes and run up wins?

Even though the committee would deny it, they do take considerations for past seasons successes. It does help that they play in a very competitive conference with two top 4 seeds, possibly a 5th seeded team in UCONN. It also helps that they have three other teams who will make the tourney. The conference overall is a much stronger conference than the ACC and the PAC12.
