"Bruce had all the advantages tonight. I would've killed to have my best player hurt and three more players fouled out, but instead I'm stuck over here, trying to find playing time for all these McDonald's All Americans and shooting 15 more free throws than Kansas State." John Calipari

Hopefully that will end the knock on Weber of not being able to win with his own players.

I am happy for him.

This side of the bracket is just nuts. Michigan will be playing #9 FSU to make final four. And winner will play one of Loyola and KSU to make championship game. [emoji50]

Kentucky loses. Bruce wins. Nice two-fer.

Bruce has been to 4 tourneys in the last 6 years. Illinois 1.

Nice job Bruce.

awesome[emoji106] Cal 's Mcd AA's must have drunk the poison. Weber is an excellent coach...as he showed tonight.

I had to double check a few times that we weren’t watching Illinois cerca 2009....well except for the Bruce winning part. Bruce coached a grind ‘um out game with a lot of patience. He is a decent coach, glad he is making a run. Ultimately his success at KSU is commendable, but I am also glad we have Underwood.

Yeah, a national champion or runner up will come from 3, 9, 9 and 11 seeds. I like Michigan to get out of these 4, but at this point, I can honestly say none of them would shock me from this point forward.

Nice job Bruce.

If only IDKWTI & Kelvin Sampson wouldn't have screwed him and Bruce could've maintained that momentum from the NC game run... who knows what would've happened.

ESPN must be very sad that KSU won again.

Good for Coach Weber and his team!

I honestly don't know who to root for between KSU and Loyola. I think it would be great for Weber to make a FF, I really believe he deserves some vindication. He needed to leave Illinois, it just wasn't working, but I'm happy for his success.

On the other side, how can you not like Loyola? It's fantastic to see teams like this make a run. It will be a very fun game to watch, regardless of the outcome.

On the other side, UM is poised to make the championship game. After a down year, the a BIG team really might have the national champ...just not the one anybody thought.

Congratulations Bruce! Right now I would take being in the NCAA's 4 out of 6 yrs. I think Underwood will be great but I also think with Bruce still here we would have been to the NCAA's more than once in the last 6 yrs. That last year he was here the team fell apart because they new Mike Thomas was going to fire Bruce no matter what happened.

Leave Bruce to one side, how about some congratulations for Chester Frazier who is now an experienced, successful high-major assistant at the precocious age of 31.

We've all got the Rev on our long term radar, Chet should be on there too.

Didn't Thomas fire Weber & then go look for a replacement assuming there would be a line out the door of brilliant coaches wanting the job? Was thinking Groce was like the 5th or 6th coach offered? My point is not so much to reminisce about those days ;), more so the long term horrible effects of Mike Thomas as AD.

For what it is worth tho, congrats to Weber. These are all his recruits on the KSU team & he was on the proverbial hot seat the previous two years.

Yes.

It was time for Weber to move on from Illinois.

But that doesn't overcome the hurricane of incompetence that was Mike Thomas. That man set back Illinois sports a decade.

Assigning fault for the collapse of Illinois sports to any one individual would be inaccurate. Still, if you had to pick one, Ron Guenther laps the field.

But we just got a 5-star QB today. The winds of change are blowing. Let Bruce and Loyola play in their sandbox, we've got work to do.
