Did all the Big Ten teams stay in Indy after the B10 tournament? Maybe that wasn't a great idea to sequester the teams for an extra week, compared to other conferences. Illinois, Ohio State, Iowa, and MSU all seemed to lack energy in their games. Maybe after a year of COVID and being trapped in a hotel for 2 weeks, you start to lose your edge...

I wonder if the lack of non-con games this year (there were fewer in the end, right?) made it harder to compare across conferences. Certainly any computer rankings like KenPom rely on inter-conference games to determine the relative strengths of the teams... could be the B1G overperformed in a small sample size early on, and looked great the rest of the year as a result (until now).

I was thinking about this as well, but those same models loved Loyola, so...

The hype for the BIG really appears to have been a self fulfilling prophecy this year. Deemed a great league at the start and then all they did was okay each other for 3 months so no loss was deemed a bad loss.

I root for the B1G. But, I like seeing Fran "punch me" McCaffery lose.

This might be the most disasterous post season in Big Ten history, regardless of sport. They were viewed as the best conference in the country, got nine teams in the tournament, two #1's, two #2's, a #4 all based on conference reputation. It's becoming a very real scenario that not one team is going to make it to the second weekend. I'm not sure that's ever happened.

It really cheapens a lot.

Face it, the B1G has laid a B1G pile of doodoo on the national front and there's no denying that the B1G was overrated......Down to scUM and the twerps I think...I'm not thinking to clearly on Bb right now...mind is cloudy and lost with the Illini disaster yesterday....

Going to be a struggle getting over our loss but life goes on........

A Big 10 team is not even going to make the Final 4 and some thought at least two of them would.

Well...we've got a lot of company in Heartbreak Hotel at least. Big 12 is not doing much better.

I don’t care one whit if the BIG gets labeled as overrated. The ACC and Big 12 are also crapping the bed. I don’t think these performances are going to lead to top recruits picking mid majors over the Major Conference schools, but it will get some Mid-Major coaches new jobs.

This is basically Iowa's peak under Fran. I wonder if they'll eventually want to move on? They basically are at Steve Alford level. Way better than Todd Lickliter, but still not much of a threat for anything

B1G one of those over rated conferences we complain about often
