Watching NC State and DJ Burns, I couldnt help but think what an amazing job Fletch and Dain have done the last 2 years. 6’9 275 is probably what Dain was coming in, but the way that he’s able to run (glide?) down the court and jump now is amazing. Burns has 2 years in a P5 S&C program too and is still a below the rim plodder.

Huge credit to Dain for the commitment. But whatever we pay Fletch probably isn’t enough. Worth his weight in gold.

I’m trying to recall if Charles was ever as chubby as Burns is

I have to say the conditioning of DJ is still pretty impressive. He has played 7 games since March 12 and dominating teams. Different style of game from Dain but deceptively well conditioned as a big.

I'm expecting today to be really chalky, setting up a dynamite sweet 16 field this year.

I actually feel quite a few upsets could be on the table today. Should be fun to watch.

It'd be great, but man, I have a hard time seeing them keeping it within 20
Agree.

But I never imagined them beating Purdue under any circumstance where we were unable to do the same. I’m still a little salty.

But, I’m willing to give up a little luster on our sweet 16 accompaniment by sharing it with them. And that’s tough.

Which 1 seed do you think will be challenged the most today? As much as I’d like NW to take down UConn, I think the Huskies pull away by double digits in the second half. I would not be shocked to see Purdue or Houston get taken to the wire in their matchups.

I agree. If NW had Nicholson and Berry healthy, I could see it being close. I just don’t see them having an answer for Clingan.

Thought he came in 300-305. He was coming off of foot injury that had kept him from doing any kind of conditioning.

Regardless, impressive conditioning, and transformation!

They did follow that up with a clunker vs Chicago State. I actually think the Illini Purdue loss helped propel the team the past 2 weeks, so I am completely fine with the way that turned out.

Colorado vs Marquette. Tad Boyle and Shaka Smart giving off major vibes of "crusty old school administrator vs younger, cool/hip teacher" with Boyle's old school suit and Shaka's untucked polo, compression undershirt, and white Jordan shoes.

There's absolutely no impact on the game, but I still find the complete contrast in head coach attire amusing.

Anyone ever done an analysis of Marquette first half / second half? Specifically asking because Shaka is literally banging the floor when an opponent is like 3 feet from him. Obviously only effective in the first half of games.

Maybe I’m putting waaaay to much stock into it but at minimum it’s annoying as heck to watch and I’m so out on it.

I realize Colorado is a better team than Duquesne, but watching this Marquette-Colorado game once again makes me appreciate just what Illinois did last night. There are just so many ways a second-round game like this can go sideways, so to watch Illinois come out and make it non-competitive in the first 10-12 minutes should never be taken for granted.
