I said "gotta keep Henry" a couple of days ago. Very glad we are. Sad about losing Kane, but coaches are gonna move for better jobs. I really, really hope Henry grows into the DC job quickly and BB gets his Plan A ACs.

Same. I have faith that Henry will be successful at DC. Hopefully they can bring in a couple position coaches that can further improve recruiting.

Amazing what can happen when you have an AD, Head football coach and Head basketball coach that all know how to get the job done ...

I hate to lose Kane, especially to another B 10, but assistant coaches come and go. I have faith Bret will come up good hires. One thing we know for sure, if Henry or any new hires don’t get the job done they won’t be around long.

Been thinking about this as well. If Bielema promotes Kane or Henry, the other leaves for Purdue's DC position.
has it been announced that Kane is going to purdont yet ??.......asking for myself and I understand the thought process , just wondering when Kane to purdont becomes official ??

Ok , saw the official announcement in another thread ...........carry on...............

I trust BB and AH is a great recruiter, but I would be lying if I said this didn't feel a bit underwhelming after the Jim Leonhnard (probably just rumors and wishful thinking) talk this week.

By no means is the sky falling, and maybe it’s as simple as forming a close bond with your direct boss, but if this wasn’t just us picking Henry and Kane moving on for a promotion, then that raises an eyebrow or two imo.

Now, maybe (like most of these things) the AHC title was symbolic/for payroll reasons, but it sure felt like Kane was the successor should Walters move on. Again, by no means a red flag, just food for thought.

Also, from someone who’s got literally no insight into any of these coaching relationships, this feels like a major and fast jump for Henry. Not unheard of, but I’d like to believe we could’ve got someone better (at least in the short term).

All that being said, I’m game for keeping all this in the family, especially if it means our defense is even 75% of what it was last year.

Bielema has been working with this guy for 2 years and knows what he's getting. The idea that somehow he's "settling" is pretty much nonsense in my books. Time will tell. First OC hire was a disaster. Everything else has gone extremely well. I presume he's got a dud or three left in the next ten years, but until it shows out that way I'll assume he's made a good move.

I expect that this will work out fine.

BB knows who he is promoting.

AH knows what BB's expectations are.

I would have preferred a year of JL at DC but it did not happen.
