They are truly trash. My wife was sympathetic until I showed her this. I was trying to be reasonable. Nothing is going to happen to Miller, nor Oats, nor Alabama. But, any sports fan or a person with any decency would be rooting against that team.
Karma will meet up with them soon , hopefully in many ways

The AD needs to step in and bench the immature kid a half or a game and have a stern conversation with Oates about the fact the University is bigger than any one person. It’s really a bad look as to who is really in charge! Making a mistake us one thing but being a cocky and acting like you don’t care is another. The AD should deal with both of em.
The standard of just not being arrested on a gun charge shouldn’t be all it takes to play basketball at Alabama. I think this is a sad dad day and a bad look for Alabama basketball. I don’t care who it was if this was Ian Illini I’d want em out for a while so the realize a life lesson. I know my dad would have told Oats to bench me though and kicked my butt! Lol

I don't even know what to say. Faux outrage aside, what happened tonight defies any sort of decency or respect regarding this event. I mean a person died, in part because of a really poor decision you made, and you follow that up by making light of it or a really dumb "joke" or "mockery" or whatever the hell the idea behind that was in front of a national audience? And then Oats to come out and say "I don't know, I think that's been something going on all year. I don't really know. I don't watch our introductions. I'm not involved with them... Regardless it's not appropriate. It's been addressed, and I can assure you it definitely won't happen again this year." Cool, coach. What a stand up job. Weird how you think it's been happening all year and yet you also know you've never seen an introduction or what happens there. Yeah, no one can see through that logic. Well glad you handled it and gave out that stern dad look, then shirked any responsibility whatsoever, hate to see you hurt yourself by trying to give him or yourself even the slightest of slaps on the wrist.

It won't happen, but I do think that the SEC commish should step in and suspend Miller, the walk-on, and Oats for at least the final 2 games of the regular season if the Alabama AD doesn't. And while they have no teeth anymore, I do think the NCAA coming in and giving Alabama basketball a lack of institutional control penalty is something that likely should happen, even though it obviously won't.

It really is hard to fathom that this would be Miller and Alabama's response to the murder. But I do think this answers the question of Oats' and Miller's character: Win at all costs, shirk responsibility and involvement, and in Miller's case, I think this is enough info for me to say that this is not a "good" or "nice" kid. You make a poor decision once, maybe you're a decent guy who made a really bad decision. It happens. You do it twice over the exact same subject in such short proximity, that's no longer poor decisions, that's poor character.

If I was involved in anything remotely close to that my Dad would have given me the Fran stare down

Gilbert Arenas anyone? When he did his very similar gun dance intro after the incident in the Wizard's locker room he caught a lot of well deserved blow-back (no pun intended). This looks far worse to me because no one was hurt in the Arenas situation, but a young person was murdered here and these dudes look like they think it's funny.

Probably should have left the explanation out of it.

Regardless of how they do it (wand or gloved hands) if TSA is patting you down, it’s to make sure you don’t have any item/substance on you that could be used against innocent civilians or the aircrew.

Which makes the people of the world think, “Okay, Brandon is being checked to make sure no weapons are on him before he’s allowed to continue. Much like he made sure a weapon used in a murder was out of his possession before he went on living his life.”

Even if it’s argued to be a loose conclusion to draw…that conclusion will be (and has been) drawn.

Again, should have simply said “It was a childish, dim witted, and tone deaf action in attempt to be cool and continue with their normal pre-game tradition (if that is actually the case) and will not happen again. Nor will any other behavior of this type happen again under threat of severe punishment.”

Though…that last sentence probably wouldn’t happen. If they don’t suspend a guy who brought a gun to a situation that led to a murder…I’m sure they wouldn’t suspend someone for behaving in a way that made fun of or made light of the situation as a whole.

“The walk-on was actually cleaning Brandon’s uniform. Cleanliness is next to godliness. That’s what I always say.” -Nate Oats moments before bursting out laughing and giving everyone the finger.

I sincerely hope Alabama gets ousted from the tournament quickly. I can't imagine they have many people outside their own base who will root for them. I think I would even root for Michigan in a game between those two, even if it sent Michigan to the Sweet Sixteen, or farther, again. And I hate that Michigan got there and we didn't.
