Austin Hutcherson out for season

Certainly not what you want to hear. At this point, I wonder if he will be able to suit up for the team.
Yeah, I’m expecting not to see him this year. If he ends up being able to contribute — great. But I’m not counting on it. Hope he can get it figured out so he can at least get back next year. Would love to see him this year, but he could be key to next year with potential losses to roster.

But the silver lining is that this year won't count against him. Get better Hutch!

This season’s team has the depth to make up for it. So I don’t think it’s a big deal tbh. But next season he could be very valuable and I hope he makes a full recovery in time.

That sucks. Poor guy. I didn't realize he'd been in a serious auto accident. I wish him vigorous squatting and deadlifting when he's able. Look forward to seeing him on the court.

Good luck Hutch!!! May your recovery be speedy and full. I look forward to watching you play. And heck, with the limited distractions, this might be the perfect time. Best of luck.

Can anyone provide specific details about Hutches injury? Is it just a nagging issue or is it going to require surgery? Also, how many years of eligibility does he have? Looking forward to getting BBV back.

The Hutcherson news sucks but we all saw it coming. Fortunate this didn’t happen mid year or end of season. We’ve been preparing for life without him.

He should just be put on a medical scholarship so we can sign someone who can contribute. Feel sad for the young man
This is the second year where we have gotten no production from that scholarship. If it is likely that the injury will be ongoing, I think you are right.

We wouldn’t be the Illini if we couldn’t go on and on about our best player/shooter being on the bench waiting for next year. I, for one, feel better now that we have something like that to say again.

Just hoping he is well next year as a part of the replacement for Ayo. Will be more needed at that point he has a lot of the abilities of Ayo but not saying he is a replacement, just a piece of the replacement.

I wonder if there's more to it than 'stress fracture'. Glad to see they're calling it, though, since that's probably the best chance of him fully recovering.

We still have an open scholarship plus the spot when Ayo leaves. Not really any urgency with Hutch given we can’t fill the spots anyways.
