The number wasn't the relevant part of my post, but thanks. I guess.

I know, it was not in reference to the main point of your post (transfer tampering) that's why I just quoted only the part of your post (overall number of transfers) that was relevant to the recent NCAA report and relevant to previous discussion.

Only 34% of graduate transfers actually end up completing their graduate degree :tsk:

Not surprising since they're only in school for one more year but still.

Yeah, that statistic was eye catching, as well as the fact that graduate transfers now account for a little more than 1/3 of all transfers into Div. 1. Of course, it is also a big hypocrisy, because the main reason for transferring for most is definitely not getting that graduate degree.

Wonder what the % is for any student that starts toward their masters?

I have a son in grad school right now (grad asst. Baseball coach) and the time demands are amazing. He is very motivated and I would be lying if the thought hadn't crossed his mind to apply for jobs at the end of this first year.......Keeping him focused was never a problem when playing, but it is a major part of our conversations now. I can see where these kids quit grad school when they are no longer playing.

Good question. I do not have statistics but I'd imagine for Master's degrees the percentage would be quite high. Students tend to be more focused and programs are relatively short in duration. However, doctoral completion percentage must be quite low. Duration of doctoral studies keeps increasing and difficulty level is also quite a jump from Master's.

If we end up with no Black nor Thorne, Holden will look like a burger boy, otherwise, he's a non starter on a Conference USA team that fouled out 6 times.

I was beginning to think that the Hail Mary attempt at Thorne's sixth year may be answered. This makes sense. Surprised it took so long.

If we end up with Black and Thorne, we still have use for another big, I should think. Holden does not look like a center in any case.

I guess someone has to leave before we have a scholarship for Holden, but I wonder just how much we can read into any of this.

I'd be worried if the staff WASN'T covering all their bases. :thumb:

He missed the beginning of the season with a hand injury. But he ended up starting the last 16 games of the season.

Does anyone know why Cullen Neal is immediately eligible at Ole Miss after transferring from UNM prior to completing his Senior season? There has to be some reason, right?

Amile Jefferson gets his medical reshirt. Of course Duke finds out this soon. How long before we know about Thorne/Abrams??....hopefully really soon

The staff was hoping to find out sometime this month or early next month. Could be any day now really. Not surprising that Amile Jefferson's decision was made before we heard about our Thorne/Abrams since his case was pretty clear-cut with it only being a 5th year.

Wow. So if you redshirt a year and graduate in three years, you can transfer and play at another school without a sit out year for 2 seasons.

Did not know that.
It's new.

We've only taken advantage of it the last 4 years.

I wonder, what with 700 or more transfers every year lately (or whatever the number is), how often this happens and is either suspected and ignored or never known?

More NCAA absurdity. How can one "tamper" with an unpaid, amateur student? And, WSU is the sole arbiter? Let him go.

Washington State needs to just let Valentine Izundu go to San Diego State if he wants.

No we havent.

Serious question, have we ever had a player eligible to play 2 years under the graduate transfer rule?

I don't think so. Not many people can play D-I sports at a high level and still manage to graduate in three years. They can extra courses in their redshirt year, but a full year's worth? I suspect that is rare everywhere.

This is not a good look for WSU. You better believe other coaches will use this to recruit against them. Never looks good when a school basically bullies a kid who wants to leave.

I honestly have no clue. I followed them a lot during the year, and they were a very talented team. Strange to see an exodus like this, which makes you think something is up there...

Postseason bans two years in a row. One by the NCAA for low APR, and last years by the AD, but she didn't explain why. They were eligible and won 20 games. It sounds like the players didn't get answers after Jeter was fired, which is why many are leaving.

I helped host UWM at a holiday tournament in Mexico in 2012, and got to talk to some of their staff, who were all very friendly. I didn't really see any problems with the staff back then. I didn't know Jeter got fired until I saw this thread.
