That's funny, I just picked up a Longhammer 6 pack. It's a good go-to beer as its fairly reasonable in price.

Yes, please, and post pics! Last weekend I enjoyed a Hoegaarden Witte and it was outstanding. I think that's one of their mainstays.

Yeah, I was somewhat surprised about that. A 6 pack of that was only $1 more than a 6 pack of any of the domestics, so it made the choice real easy this time.

At the urging of a friend, (he handed me the bottle) I tried a Blue Moon Valencia Orange Amber. I don't like fruity beers so I didn't expect much. To my surprise, it was very good. If they promote the orange content by the label I would have thought it was just a good amber.

BTW, I have to make a correction. The 10 Barrels Sinister Black is an ale (not an IPA), but my favorite of theirs is actually the Apocalypse IPA.

I visited St Louis this weekend to visit family and while down there I tried an IPA by Charleville Vineyard Microbrewery called Hoptimistic. Its a west coast style over hopped beer, and it was delicious :)

Have to comment on a beer I had last night with dinner. It was a Mikkeller Mexas Ranger. Very good! Slow, sipping, small glass, sort of beer. Had half the bottle last night and will finish it off with dinner tonight.

For those of you in the Phoenix area I've hit up a couple local brewpubs recently.

Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. http://www.azwbeer.com/ It's in Gilbert/Mesa on the SE corner of AZ Ave and Guadalupe. It's tucked away in the back right corner. It's on the small side but the beers and food are great. They only serve their own beers and they can run out of the more popular ones quickly. So it's best to check the website which seems to be updated daily with what's on tap and food specials.

Angels Trumpet Ale House and Gastro Pub. http://www.angelstrumpetalehouse.com/Angels_Trumpet/ATAH.html It's near downtown Phx in a hipster area located in the 2nd st/Roosevelt area. They do not brew their own beer but do have a very nice selection of craft beers, 30+ taps I think. Food is great and they even have a Tues nite TV dinner special!

I've only tried about 3 of their beers, I'm not a fan of Magic hat. A couple of places I frequent tried serving them but I don't think they lasted a month because of the low sales.

Pumking and Warlock are really good pumpkin beers. Both are made by Southern Tier. Crown Valley Brewing (Missouri) makes Imperial Pumpkin Smash Stout, which is very nice also. Another nice one is the Imperial Pumpkin Ale from Weyerbacher.

I am a huge fan of Le Chouffe Houblon right now.

It's a hoppier version of their traditional offering (Belgian Golden Ale) and is very drinkable. Would suggest giving it a try if you can find it.

At this time of year when asked what I'd like for Christmas, I usually request 12 bottles of some good microbrews or a growler from the local brewery. It works for my birthday and father's day as well.

went to Nicks in downtown Lemont, Il on Sat. A local bar known around here for its "granddaddy" burger. They have a new local Lemont micro brew by Pollyanna Brewing, the Full Lemonty. A very nice golden lager. They have their own brew house in Lemont that I will need to check out

Southern Tier Warlock is excellent. Buy it if you get the chance.

Had another fine beer this weekend, Mother's Milk, a stout made by Keegan Ales in Kingston, NY. No light passes through this dark and creamy beer in a pint glass and it doesn't have the strong aftertaste most dark stouts do.

A local restaurant has Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale on tap, so I gave it a try the other night and was not disappointed. I've had several other Ales that claim to be aged in whiskey barrels, but this one really imparted the bourbon flavor on the beer. I'll be purchasing this one again in the future.

If you can ever get your hands on Monday Night Brewery's Bourbon Barrel Drafty Kilt--which is a Scotch ale--I predict you'll be even further blown away.

I didn't like it. Was more like diluted bourbon that a beer with bourbon flavor.

Did yours come from a bottle or tap? I've heard mixed reviews and am thinking this may be a factor. What I had the other night was definitely a strong ale with a bourbon kick.

Came from a bottle. I picked up a six pack when it first came to the Chicagoland area. Was a blond/mild ale with too much of a bourbon flavor. Was almost like someone took bourbon and diluted it with the beer.

Could be that my expectation was off. I expected it to be something like Bourbon County Stout but with a pale ale. Wasn't that at all IMO.
