Not sure where we are at with all the tie-breakers, but if we can pull out one or two unexpected wins in the last few weeks we've got a chance to finish outside of the bottom 4 (see updated table).

The loss to NW really hurt (especially considering the ending), but we seem to be playing better as of late so hope springs eternal!

My hope:
*Nebraska loses out -- finish 6-12
*NW loses to Mich and then wins out -- finish 8-10
*Illinois beats Minn, PSU, and upsets one other -- finish 7-11
*PSU beats Nebraska and Rutgers and loses the rest -- finish 5-13

If we're hoping, let's shoot for the Illinois wins out!;)

Very possible. They don't have any easy ones left. I could see them finishing the season 0-4 to be honest.

Every once in awhile I'll peek over on the scout board and I saw a thread from last week with an Iowa fan who was legitimately trying to compare this Iowa team to the '05 Illini. He even went as far as to say that Uthoff is a better college player than Dee, Luther, and Deron.

I wholeheartedly agree with that fan...and Swaggy P is a greater player than Kobe ever was.

Nothing would make me happier than to see them be the first 1 seed (if they still get it) bounced by a 16 seed.

I should add that he went through and compared every starter individually. He said Clemmons and Jok vs DWill and Luther was basically a toss up:eek: Not sure but I believe he also tried to imply that Woodbury had the advantage over Augustine. He said Iowa's bench of Baer, Uhl, and Wagner was better than McBride, Ingram, and Smith. The '05 Illini would smoke this Iowa team by 30+. Hopefully they lose out which is a real possibility now.

I believe somewhere in the middle of these two thoughts lies a truer answer.

Quick take - # 1 seed probabilities:
Iowa - 40%
MD - 30%
IU - 28%
Field - 2%

Tiebreaker effect is -7% for Iowa, +5% for Maryland, +2% for IU.

Imagine Dee Brown today with the no contact rules that are in place starting this year. Nobody could stay in front of him. He would average 20 free throws a game.

Is something wrong with the Maryland team? They lose to Minnesota tonight. Get pounded by Wisconsin at home the last game. Pull out games late at home against nortwestern and Penn St. With the talent they have, hard to understand. They had some players leave a couple years ago, maybe something wrong internally?

Stone was suspended for last night's game, that may have had some impact.

They go as Melo goes. He's been terrible lately.

We should be hearing the actual reason for Stone's suspension either today or sometime this weekend.

He was suspended for the bush league move he did last weekend.
