I slightly disagree about Saad, he’s playing well right now do To a more stable line. Vinny up on the top line is making Saad and toews play much better.

Vinny has changed how that top line plays so much its insane. Agreed Saad is better than his point total indicates. I think I'd say we won that trade given how much use we've gotten out of Forsberg alone (for better or worse) and how poor Darling is playing.

Offense looks to be finally clicking. We really need a defenseman to step up. Keith has had a huge regression. Seabs actually looking better this year. Oesterle and Murphy have been coming into their own. Still would like to see a big name acquired on D this year.

Agreed that Hino has been VG. Think he's with the big club for good now. Q has stumbled onto something. But why wasn't Hino with the Hawks from the get go? He was very noticeable in the preseason games.

Anyhow, up until this very recent awakening, Saad has been in a pretty deep drought, production wise. Not suggesting he's taking shifts off or hasn't been defensively responsible. Just hasn't made the score sheet often enough.

Because one of Q's greatest flaws is burying young talent for vets for no particular reason. He also gives 0 leash, Vinny sat for about 4 games after he had a couple bad penalties in a game. I get teaching discipline, but when your team is slumping as much as the Hawks are, changes needed to be made. Took 3 games too long to get him back in there.

7 years ago this worked out fine cause even our third and forth line vets were extremely good and our top lines were so good at virtually every aspect of the game that we didnt need young players to step up.

haha, that was a purely rhetorical question. Q's doghouse is like the Hotel California.

Franson on waivers, Hayden down, Jurco up.

Whoa, didn't see that coming. Don't see Q making these moves. Franson was a Q favorite. Pretty good for what he is (close to a pylon), but Q certainly overplayed him. Hayden has been good. He could use some seasoning though, and he'll get big minutes with the Hogs. Know Jurco has been outstanding the past few weeks.

Oesterle's emergence made Franson expendable.

So now it's Franson to the A, Erik Kharlsson (sp?) up. Brent Seabrook is a healthy scratch for tonight's game.

Gustafsson is the guy who was recalled. Got my Swedes mixed up.

Scratching Seabs? Good move. Mebbe Q will take Keith off the PP. One can hope, amirite?

Its interesting that Q moved Keith off the top PP line and inserted Oesterle, and they scored 4 PP goals.

I don't think Keith has regressed in his D assignments, but his point totals are down, I hate the HS for Seabs, but maybe its a wake up call for the whole team, or maybe just trying to keep him fresh.

It will be interesting to see how the lines shake up when Animosov returns...

top line - Saad, Toews, Vinny
2nd- Hartman, Schmaltz, Kaner
Third- DeBrincat, Animsov, Jurco
Fourth- Bouma, Wingles, Panik

any thoughts??

Oesterle was great on the PP. Hey, a guy who can get point shots through! What a concept! Forwards feasted on his rebounds. Can hardly believe we got him for nothing. Great move to be willing to play the long game with him. Paying big dividends now. Locked up for 1.5 seasons on the cheap too.

Sharpie, my man! lol Hopefully, Jurco is a Bouma replacement. Think he gets an audition tonight.

I totally forgot Sharpie...he has to be in now that's he's hot...i'd prefer Jurco replacing Panik instead of Bouma

Whoa.
Is Ottawa really that bad?

Their goalies are horrible. Worst goaltending I have ever seen. Their D isn't too good, either. They have a lot of really good players. Shocking how much they have fallen this year after hitting the EC Finals and taking Pitts to 7 games.

Not sure if it's due to the poor PK from Ottawa or Oesterle but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it tonight.

I'd say that's about right.

Like DeBrincat with Kane. Sharpie fits in there somewhere too. I hope Q keeps Anisimov out of the top 6.

Bum ankle Anisimov or healthy Anisimov? But, yeah, that's a great problem to have. The way Schmaltz is playing C and Hino's emergence allows the Hawks to slot AA at 3C. And that's a very good thing. A Sharp-Anisimov-DCat line can do some damage.

Holy sheepstuff!!! Bowman just flipped Panik for Anthony Duclair! Love it!

I like this trade for the business aspect...if we don't make the playoffs we need lots open cap space for next year. this trade helps out...

plus I've heard the cap might raise as much as 5-7 million...i would aspect due to the addition of Vegas.

is he coming to the 4th line, maybe 3rd.

but I like your 3rd line of Sharp, AA and the Cat

The cap space is the real benefit. Duclair is a reclamation project, much like Panik was. Hopefully they get something positive out of him the rest of the year. If not, he's an RFA and they can let him go for nothing.

Highly doubt they'll let him go. This was much more of a get younger & faster move than a cap move (to wit, we took Clendening off their books). Duclair has elite speed, good hands and skills. He's a top 6 forward, easy, provided he gets it together. He'll slot in on the 3rd line, with Anisimov and DCat. Kid should be very motivated. Am very stoked about acquiring him.
