LA traded him because he wasn't going to sign with them. Excellent job by the Hawks not only ID-ing him, but also convincing him they offered a very good opportunity. Panarin's success spoke volumes. Kahun too, on a much smaller scale.

Hawks have been good at signing free agents from Europe.
Definitely been a strength, and necessary given the generally late draft order and salary cap constraints.

3) bull**** handpass call
4) questionable penalty on Smith
5) Nylander getting a penalty on Pasta's embellishment
Ridiculously one sided. That crew deserves sanctions (won't happen). Ugh.

I don't get the dual penalties for embellishment. It's either or in my opinion. If the guy really did get hooked, etc. then it's a penalty, regardless if he flopped around like a fish. If he did not get hooked and flopped like a fish, then that's embellishment for trying to entice a call. No hooking call on the call. I just don't understand calling both.
Note that I don't know if that's the penalty that Nylander got called for, just using it as an example.

Yep, one week until the trade deadline. Will be interesting to see what happens with the Hawks.
Indeed. My spidey sense (lol) says no way is Bowman a buyer.* But will he be a wholesale seller? No way he stands pat. I figure Gus and a goalie are gone, at a minimum.
In the interim, fully expecting the Hawks to start winning again and sucking me back in, lol. The results on this road trip were poor, but they actually played pretty well.
* beyond very short term-ers, using LTIR money
Here's what I think the Hawks could get: to me Gus is worth a 2nd, Saad is worth 1st++, Lehner is worth a 1st, and Crow is worth a conditional 2nd.
Sign me up for all those plus the top 10 draft pick this year.

Does anyone have an idea what the Hawks' path forward looks like? I don't see a discernible plan at this point. It looks like most if not all of the young talent is already on the roster.
