I think the committee puts Alabama in and SMU out given their MO in the past - it punishes teams for playing in their conference championship and probably should be looked at in the future, but it won’t be this year. Indiana was lucky they didn’t have to play in the B1G championship or they might be out as well if they were blown out.

So I think we get Ole Miss which will be very interesting- they should have a lot of opt outs and Luke will be fired up but it will be a tough test for sure

Id be shocked if they left Bama out. I mean look what the did to BYU who has the same record as SMU, has a better win, and beat them head to head on the road. And if the resumes were reversed, I think there would also be no way they would leave out a 10-2 Bama for a 9-3 SMU. The committee in their rankings last week made it pretty apparent this is going to be a popularity contest as that's the only explanation for their rankings. I just can't see them leaving Bama out even though they don't deserve it based on their losses.

As for who we play in the Citrus assuming Bama is in, I think it'd be South Carolina as they'll likely travel a bit better. That said, Ole Miss has never played in the Citrus in their entire program history so that might be a nice sell.

Selection show starting momentarily.

I'll post the 12-team bracket once it is announced. The New Year's Six bowls are still used but as quarterfinal and semifinal hosts. This year, the quarterfinal games are at the Fiesta, Peach, Rose, and Sugar Bowl with the Orange and Cotton Bowl hosting the semifinals.

You have to be careful not to punish a team playing a conference championship game compared to a team who has a bye. Otherwise I would opt out of a championship game if I was ranked in the playoffs

except you can’t do that

They play the selection show out. We're waiting on Alabama and SMU. That's it. Move on with it. All of these sports try to mirror Selection Sunday of Men's basketball and none of them are remotely close. This one is borderline idiotic.

The SEC and Bama fans are about to go nuclear.
