Or, and this may sound like a crazy idea, do it how FCS does it with a 24 team bracket. Every conference champion (10 in FCS) get an automatic bid with the remaining 14 teams getting at large bids.
They'd be still playing in February with that format. I like the 12. It rewards winning a conference which is the backbone of college football but gives a consolation prize to the higher ranked teams with a home game.

Who is ready for a Crimson Tide of Citrus?

Not necessarily. They could still get it done by the end of January if they don't have the long gap between the semifinals and the national title game. FCS gets their first 4 rounds done within 4 weeks and then only have a gap between the semifinals and the national title game due to broadcasting reasons.

The gap is only a week plus a couple days

Their backups are 4 and 5 stars...our backups would have to fight for a starting position on a MAC squad
They have lost to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma with their starters. This is not a normal Alabama team. They are beatable when not at home.

That top half of the braket is some nasty work. I can't wait to watch.

So I was right on Oregon being in Rose Bowl and Boise State in Fiesta Bowl. Ended up being Georgia in Sugar Bowl and Arizona State in Peach Bowl. Would have figured those last two would have been flipped.

When will the other bowls be announced? Is it going to be on this ESPN show? I need to know if I have to go to the store to get Cheez-It's before they sell out.

Think I heard one of them say it was so none of them had a defacto home game.

They will be trickling in throughout the day. There are some leaks already. Sounds like Minnesota is going to the Mayo Bowl and Nebraska is going to the Pinstripe Bowl. Just follow Brett McMurphy’s twitter account.

You have to be careful not to punish a team playing a conference championship game compared to a team who has a bye. Otherwise I would opt out of a championship game if I was ranked in the playoffs

Yup, they must change the value of those games with all the money involved. I have zero doubt the committee understands what they must do in the 12 team era and preserve those games by not diminishing the prospects for those who play them.

They wanted to preserve traditional big-time conference bowl games as much as possible.

So Oregon (Big Ten) to the Rose Bowl, Georgia (SEC) to the Sugar Bowl.

They did mention they didn't want Arizona State to have a de facto home game at the Fiesta, so they were sent to the Peach Bowl.

Assuming it’s Alabama, I think Milroe will for sure play and Illinois hasn’t faced a running QB like him all year

If they were doing it based on how they were seeded, I wouldn't think this would have been a factor anyway as Boise State would have been the option for the Fiesta.

Really. So does that mean in the future LSU can’t play in the Sugar Bowl, UGA in the Peach, USC/UCLA in the Rose Bowl

If you earned a top seed you should get the benefits
