If we didn't beat Nebraska, would they be on the right side of the bubble?
Porter Jr will play for Mizzou tomorrow. hate to say it but they may have a run in them still if he's playing well. not a team you'd want to run into as an 11-12 seed
I always pull for all of the BIG teams. The better they do the more credible the BIG. The more credible the BIG the better rankings both preseason and during the season. AND the better the rankings the more NCAA bids. In the next few years where the Illini are fighting to get back to the NCAA, the more slots for the BIG the better their chances. Once the conference season starts and they play 18 games within the conference, the rankings affect whether it is good teams beating good teams or a bunch of mediocre teams beating each other up. When a bottom tier team upsets you in conference do you want it recorded as a bad loss? To me the preconceived belief of who is good places a team high to start or low. If you are high and lose, you get a chance to recover and remain in the rankings. If you are low and win, you have to fight to move up and be ranked. The more the BIG is perceived positively the less Illinois will have to fight to return to relevance.
