Totally mediocre resume. Being buoyed a bit by early away win over Cincinnati, which is solid, and another early away win over Creighton, which is OK. They’ve beaten no one in conference- Their best conference wins are at Nebraska and beating us early in UC.

I don't get OSU being a 10 seed - every time I've watched them they just look very so so.

I love how the Illini have progressed, but dang it would have been nice if it happened a little quicker this year. Was just looking at Lunardi's Bracketology and his first four out include such traditional powers as Utah St., Belmont and Lipscomb.

That was a good site I forgot about, but you're right. I can't find a 2019 sheet from them.

This guy does NIT bracketology pretty well. https://twitter.com/nybuckets

He used to have a website but now just uses Twitter. Here is his latest NIT bracket.

Really hope we can get into the NIT. Such a horrible start to the season and now we're playing like a team that would easily make the dance. Would love to see these guys have a chance at a post-season beyond the BTT.

Grrr, if there was a prayer before today's game, losing to PSU and sitting at 10-17 has to seal the deal on the NIT. Really wanted these guys to have a post-season beyond the BTT.

I will say that the flow of the offense looks light years ahead of where we started the season and I'm still optimistic about the future.

If the season were to end today our first 3 opponents in the BTT would most likely be Minnesota, Michigan State, and Maryland all teams we have beaten. I know it gonna be tough to win 4 straight but we’ve done it once already this season in the BIG.

I think if we can win two out of the next four games our chances are very good of landing in seventh place since we win a whole lot of different tiebreaks. I think that would give us Rutgers or tOSU in the first round and Purdue or Michigan in the second.

Illinois as an 8 seed using the default values. Noice. That's basically a national championship, if you normalize for season expectations.
One of those defaults has OSU winning at home against IOWA tomorrow night. Change only that default and we are a seven seed against Rutgers on Thursday night.

So you're saying we should all buy extra champagne for the celebration?

Or at least a better brand of champagne. I'd hate to drink eighth place champagne when we finished seventh. Seventh place champagne has more bubbles for that all important bubble watch.

Good Sir, this is The Illini Loyalty Board. DO NEVER TEST. We don't drink Second Rate Champagne. We don't Bench Press less than 525 lbs. We don't own fewer than four Beach Houses.

Do they make boxed champagne? I feel like 8th place champagne should come in a box.

This probably matters only to me, but OSU's win over Iowa tonight means OSU has the inside path to the 7 seed. I think it also means we are a lot more likely to play in the 8-9 game early Thursday. If we win 3 of the last four we can still play Thursday night in the 7-10 game, but if we lose three of the last four we are probably still in the 8-9 game.

Penn State started 0-10, and they may end up avoiding Wednesday. That’s incredible.

They're going to wind up playing nine of a possible ten games against the top five teams in the league, which is an absolutely brutal draw. (Most teams are at like six or seven.) Chambers does not deserve the axe, imo.

Not that it matters all that much, but the IU game is pretty much a must-win for us to stay out of the first day. I'm gonna be very bummed if we don't get that one.

Chris Holtmann was a stud at Butler and should never have left. He is INSANELY lucky he had KBD last year otherwise he’d be staring down 2 mediocre seasons.

Ok? He took a Ohio St team picked to finish near the bottom of the Big 10 and had them be come a #5 seed in Year 1. This year was supposed to be a major rebuild for them and they'll probably be in the tourney again. Compare those results with Underwood and I'm not sure where you get "mediocre" from

And he has an elite recruiting class coming in next year.

He's a great coach who has done a really good job at OSU and has them set up to be at the top of the conference moving forward.

Meh, we’ll see I guess. When I posted that they had 5 games left and 4 were against ranked opponents. They were looking like they might go 18-14 with very few quality wins.

The blowout against Iowa probably punched their ticket to the dance as long as they still beat NW in their 2nd to last game.
