Most of my moms side of the family went to Mizzou, and just found out we’re making family Christmas into a Braggin’ Rights watch party. Wish me luck.
Orange hat/beanie, orange shirt/jersey, orange sweatpants, orange socks/shoes..... and wear them PROUDLY, represent!!! Hell, even take an orange Illini ornament to hang on the tree!

Don't forget the orange underwear!

I was walking behind a Missouri fan last year headed into this game, and he kept pointing out every overweight Illini fan and calling them "fat." It displeased me. It wasn't very creative, either.

Last year I was able to get (nosebleeds, granted) two last minute tickets on the Illinois side for about $100 total. Based on what's on Stubhub it'll be more than double that for this one!

I am not feeling it for the Illini in this one. Mizzou handled Kansas pretty easily although at home. Only DGL has ever played in this atmosphere. I hope Illini can pull it off but I am feeling uneasy.

^ Yeah, should be an amazing atmosphere, and tickets are moving quickly! This does not count third party tickets actually being sold, of course, but the only unsold seats are the blue/pink ones in the image below:

And utilizing FOTN's impeccable color replacement abilities in Microsoft Paint, that would correspond to a crowd like this. :ROFLMAO:

This also got me thinking of two things I think of every single year ... would love for a regular to answer! Not overly important issues, but they kind of bug me:

1. Did we ever used to bring ANY portion of the Orange Krush and/or the band to Braggin' Rights? While I cannot remember RE: the band, I SWEAR I always remembered watching this game as a kid in the mid-2000s and they'd zoom up on (at least small) student sections in the first couple rows, usually decked out in Santa hats. Looking at last year's game, it appears very clear that neither team has students or a band. If we ever did bring either/both and stopped, that's really unfortunate. Unlike most neutral site games in NBA(ish) arenas, this one does NOT have that soulless corporate feel ... but it'd be better with those two elements. The only two times I've attended were 2021-22 and 2022-23, with the former still having COVID restrictions and the latter occurring during a bad snow storm; so, it was understandable why the band/students weren't there.

2. Can someone with knowledge of that arena confirm or deny that the renovations just seemed to make the setup seem more corporate and stale?? I never attended before they renovated it. However, I look at pictures of past games, and it just seems like the crowd is SO much more packed together and on top of the court, which makes the color contrast look way cooler:

It's probably mostly in my head and driven by nostalgia, and I know fans just seem to not wear their team's brighter color in unison as was the trend in the mid- to late 2000s. Additionally, the two photos in the post-renovation arena were admittedly just smaller crowds. However, something about the new layout just seems like there is way more space with zero seats, and I think it hurts the atmosphere. On a semi-OT note, while Illini fans still show out in orange, it would be nice if Mizzou fans still wore that much (puke-colored) gold. The color contrast really does help to emphasize how unique of a setup this is.

I was definitely there in 1987 and/or 1988 with tickets I purchased through Orange Crush (the name at the time). We sat on risers right behind the basket. It wasn’t a road trip organized by OC however. It was a much less formal organization at that time. No charity, no waiting in line before games, etc.

Having spent time around Mizzou fans since my mother in law lives in Missouri, I can attest that kind of insult is considered creative for that intelligence level.
