Is every Big Ten team getting squeezed like this, or are we just stuck in the cellar of broadcast appeal due to a decade of slowly decaying mediocrity?
Yes, every B1G team gets the early season BTN Plus treatment. Indiana, Michigan, Purdue & Wisc are the lucky ones only needing a 1-month subscription (every other team requires a 2-month subscription if you want to watch all their BTN+ games online).

This Friday is BTN Plusalooza, featuring 11 men's hoops games (including the Illini game).

Rutgers is your 2017 BTN Plus winner with 10 games.

It's because the Big Ten didn't want their games on Watch ESPN, so all games that would have had their rights sold to ESPN and put on the internet only version of Watch ESPN are now on BTN Plus which you have to pay extra for.

BTN Plus should be included with BTN subscription just like Watch ESPN is included with an ESPN subscription. It's absolutely bonkers that it is not, especially with the garbage student announcers detracting from the experience.

Preface: Great on BTN/B1G for giving aspiring media student an opportunity at a real game with a somewhat real audience.

That being said, they are pretty darn terrible and I agree paying extra to listen to them is crazy. I get you dont wanna even send your C team out to commentate a UI Southern game, but if I'm paying 10 bucks let me at least just have professionals.

Exactly! There’s zero reason for BTN+ to not be included in the regular BTN subscription, aside from gouging fans + hoping that people forget to cancel their subscriptions in December and they get a few extra months of fees.

Don’t get me wrong, the BTN has been great for the conference, especially for schools like us that, ahem, haven’t exactly been pulling their weight for the last ten years... but I wish the ADs would push back a little on stuff like this or Friday night football games in the interests of their fans.

Agree. This BTN+ concept is garbage. I’ll manage to get through these five games with Brian Barnhart and... is it still Deon?... just fine.

I don't care if I get zero coverage of the games, I won't pay for BTN+. I will not miss another single game, though.

Or at least just use the radio feed directly from the BIG school. It's something I still don't know why more broadcasters don't do. Fans typically like their school's radio team more than anything else, so just save all the hassle and cost and poor quality and (especially for these early online games) just use the radio call.

In general, I'm still confused why more networks haven't figured out a way to offer that option to people. With all the tech available these days, it seems like a simple option that could really draw people in. Me and different generations of my family actually use a radio, computer, and delay software so we can sync up the radio broadcasts for Illinois football/basketball and Cubs games rather than listen to the banal announcing that most stations put forward.

Are you watching the replays on the regular BTN, or is it through BTN+? In other words, if someone didn't buy the + package can they watch the game later if they have BTN?
If you subscribe to BTN Plus, then you can watch the replay of the Southern game anytime online on BTN2Go. If not a BTN Plus subscriber then the replay is not available to watch on BTN2Go.

Sometimes -- but not always -- BTN Plus games get replayed on BTN (the cable TV channel). I haven't seen anywhere if the Southern game is going to get replayed on BTN, it looks doubtful. Games that get replayed on BTN (the cable TV channel) are available to watch or dvr at that time (but the replay on BTN2Go is still only available if you're a BTN Plus subscriber).

If the Southern game gets replayed on BTN (the cable TV channel) -- which again looks doubtful -- then that info will be posted on this board in the postgame thread.

I just signed up. There was a check mark in a box that said auto renew my subscription. I unchecked it. Does that mean it will automatically cancel after one month?

Singin and go to this page-
https://www.btn2go.com/account/subscriptions

Does it say "Next Bill Date" under Last Bill Date? If not, then it's just for one month and won't renew I guess. In that case, either contact them request to go auto renew or singup again for 1 month later in December.

How many Big Ten + games do we have this year? Debating if its worth paying for. Thanks!

Question. I'll likely get the BTN+ package. There is a possibility I might be away from home. If it's on one computer at home and I try to log in from my laptop, am I going to be able to do that? Hoping it's like Netflix where you can have multiple log ins at one time.

Also, is the + thing something you can watch on your TV directly, is there such a thing as a BTN+channel? Last couple years I've always just watched on the laptop with the BTN2go app.

If your laptop has a HDMI output, just run a HDMI cable from laptop to TV.

I am aware of that. I was mainly interested in having two computers at 2 different locations logged into the same account. I assume it's alright. I'm likely going to be travelling.

I know of two people who share a WWE Network account, and it can be accessed by both tv's at once.

Like I said, just what I've heard:D

Dan, When you post game threads with BTN+ TV coverage, it would be appreciated if you posted any known BTN replay times as well.

You should be able to. I have been logged on through 2 different Roku at my house at the same time. I don't see how that would be any different

Hmm just went thru it, doesn't appear to be an Illinois-Southern replay listed on the BTN TV Schedule. There are 19 BTN Plus men's hoops game Friday-thru-Monday, only a select few (not all) of them will get TV replays.

If I missed it & an IL-Southern replay is available sometime on BTN TV, that info will be posted in the Southern postgame thread.

At this point none of the Illini streams are scheduled to re-air on BTN, and it is highly doubtful any will.
