There will always be good candidates, and there will always be programs better than ours looking for good candidates at the same time. Next year will be no different.

Of course, the program will be in worse shape by then, but there will be candidates available. That I am sure of.

There's talk -- on UCF boards at least, where it's taken as gospel -- that UCF and Houston will be in the Big 12 within a few seasons. They are short 2 teams there.

UCF is largely viewed as a team that will be in the P5 soon with the right coaching. They have everything necessary minus the wins in the last 2 seasons.
I live very close to UCF, their field is poor I am unsure about their overall facilities. I know that they are a recruiting "Sleeping Giant" because of the huge talent base with 150-200 miles of Orlando. I also know that "sleepy time" George O'Leary was as friendly as a scorpion... so if anyone comes in with a personality and can build some sort of high school coach base here they will be a force within 2-4 years. they have enough money to do what they need to from what i have seen they just never took the athletic department very seriously due to O'Leary being both football coach and the AD.

Does Babers going to UCF mean no Power5 team came calling? Missed opportunity....

Good recruiting area...headed to Power 5 soon...not walking in with impossible expectations...big school..large market...lots to sell...recent facility upgrades... It isn't a glamour name but he could've done worse.

Frost will have the Nebraska job next year I'm sure. Thank god Babers is still somehow available.

That would be a leap of faith. UCF is not going to be a 1-year turnaround.

True, true, true. I'm not sure he has to turn them around to get the Nebraska job in 1 year though. He's got a ton of support there and should have gotten the job from being Oregon OC.

Nebraska peeps want him to have 2-3 years of HC experience before taking his talents to Lincoln

Gruden

Hows about John Gruden? Kids with NFL aspirations will sit up and take notice. They see him all the time working with draft picks on bettering there fundamentals and doing NFL games and he won't take the game playing from the Ivory Tower folks and I think he is a big enough draw that it would not take 4 years to turn the ship around. Granted its really swinging for the fences but that's what you need while living thru a nightmare. :thumb:

It would be interesting to compare one of those news articles that says which teams will hire which coach and see if anyone listed Helton for USC and how on earth Herman is staying at Houston.

Georgia expected to hire Kirby Smart.

Yeah, I was told that it was a done deal on Sunday afternoon. Same person told me that he is trying to bring Will Muschamp from Auburn as DC.

I don't think many people expected that Houston could kick it up to 3 mil. a year for Herman, but if they can, why wouldn't he stay? He'd probably only get that or a little more from a P5 school which will likely fire him in 3-5 years, whereas he can be set and be a god at Houston for a long time.
