I can always enjoy these other games more after a win.

Today is a good day.

Living in Western Illinois on the Iowa border had given me a large hatred for all things Iowa. However, my SEC hatred is almost as strong. I'm not going to lie, I'm really torn on this one.

So do I hope that Vandy wins and I don't have to listen to my Iowa friends talk all year like they are the only Big 10 team to win a bowl? Or do I root for Iowa so I can rub it in the face of my friends who are SEC fans?

Iowa is so well coached defensively…sigh.

Do SEC defenses just stink?

Vandy scored 45 points each of their last 3 games. They have just 3 against Iowa at halftime.

Tennessee scored nearly 41 points per game this year and scored just 28 points against us (and I’m not told, we don’t have the best defense).

Texas A&M put up 31 against South Carolina, 38 against Missouri, 49 against LSU, 45 against Arkansas and I could go on, yet scored just 3 against Miami.

It's a weird transition that has occurred in that league over the last 10 years. SEC used to be 9-6, 17-14 kind of games. Now they have a lot of outright shootouts that used to only be seen in the Big 12. And it does appear the narrative of the SEC being the far & away best league is dying on the vine. Even tho ESPN is doing their best to push the narrative it just isn't so these days.

I think the coaching and discipline is night and day. With NIL the teams are on the same playing field athletically but the execution and attention detail scheme wise is on a different level in the B10.

Rewatch some SEC shootouts from this season and you’ll see how many points come from blown coverage or big runs because teams aren’t fitting their gaps correctly.
