My initial reaction is that Michigan is #1 in everything, everywhere, always. The Best People(TM) have assured me.

Also, Tennessee ranked way too low.

Agree. I typically have found OSU fans to be pretty reasonable. That may be because we were never serious challengers so maybe that changes. UM fans are the worst.

Agree. All the tOSU fans I know are way less arrogant than scUM fans, and also most SEC fans. More SEC teams should be on the list, Ohio St much lower or just removed, scUM and USC higher, Colorado removed, and Notre Dame added.

Guys, I'm having a semi-crisis and need sound advice...

On one hand, I love the IU football Cinderella story of this season. It's been an amazing thing to watch(besides when they played us, of course) and how do you NOT love a team that literally had the most losses in college football history up until this season absolutely destroying the usual blueblood, powerhouse teams and making it to the National Championship game? Everyone loves an underdog story. Also, even though there aren't any SEC teams in the title game, I'd still love to see a B10 team win the title for the 3rd year in a row to stop the annoying "SEC iS dA beSt coNFeReNCe iN coLLEge fOotbALL" rhetoric of its teams' fans and ESPN and the like. It would be pretty awesome to be able to tell SEC fans that our conference's literally bottom of the barrelI of all of D1 college football team won the whole thing, while none of their teams even MADE IT to the title game. If that happens - pardon the pun - it would just mean more.

On the other hand, every fiber of my being HATES IU with a passion(yes, even the never-a-factor-until-recently football team). It's how I was raised and it's a part of my very being. I hate IU almost as much as I absolutely adore the Illini. This part of me would love nothing more than to see IU fans crying, distraught, crushed, etc. Because at least then they wouldn't get to gloat at us about just having won the Natty. I have a good friend who's a lifelong IU fan(nobody's perfect) and loves him some IU almost, or even as much as, I love UI. I don't need that incessant bragging in my life. Not good for the ole' heart. Lastly, I know traditionally, whenever a B10 team that isn't the Illini are in a title game in football or basketball, I root for that team for no other reason than conference loyalty. Idk if I can bring myself to do that for IU in this game; I hate them THAT MUCH...

So, I'm sure I'm not the only Illini fan in this strange position. If anyone else has decided if they'd rather see IU win or lose the Natty, how do I decide what option to go with(rooting for them to win or rooting for them to lose)? How did you decide? Basically, what I'm saying is...HELP!!!

Even if they had access to everybody else's practice tape or stole signals - they still would have to dominate the line of scrimmage, never miss a tackle and make incredible end zone catches. The regular season 45(?) second drive vs Penn State to score a touchdown was perfect. So was the last touchdown that put Oregon away in Eugene.

Now if you told me IU medical school had given IU football team Captain America super serum. That I could believe.

I'm a child of the 80s and have spent my entire life being taught to loath Indiana and Iowa.

I cannot ever root for either team, and I have a tremendous amount of jealousy for their rapid success:) While I do have a number of friends that are Indiana alums and I'm very happy for them, I'm still not officially rooting for IU.

Also, Bloomington IN ain't bad (actually a lot of fun) but my official take is I do not like that place either....for the record.

I'd 1000% rather see Indiana win than the SEC or Michigan. Several of my relatives are IU fans and I feel like they are along for the ride just like we are. It also means that anyone can do it (with all the right ingredients), and the traditional power structure is dying.

Agree many are likely in the same boat, definitely me too. Honestly I don't know that there is a right answer. When the SEC was still in it (and isn't that a lovely phrase), my anti-SEC / pro-B1G feeling took precedence. But I certainly understand and share the IU dislike.

My personal plan is to just ride it out and lean into whatever happens. If IU wins, the B1G is unquestionably the best football conference. If IU loses, I won't have to hear (as much) from their fans.

My wife would tell you to flip a coin pre-game. Assign one side to each team, and while it is in the air you will find your subconscious rise to the surface with your most earnest wish.

Definitely a no win situation. I too am troubled with IU have a perfect season in FB. If they had lost a game and still made the Championship, I would feel better about it. My plan, just start watching the game and see where my emotions take me. I am guessing IU, just because of the story. But there is a greater than 0% chance that I root for the Caines.

I'm sorry, but Indiana is not scUM, not Ped State, not Ohio State. They are not Bob Knight. They are the Big Ten. They are David vs Goliath. They are the best college football story in decades. While we might be jealous of their success, it does not diminish what they have accomplished. It should inspire us by showing what can be achieved in this new era of college football. Indiana all the way for me.

Meh. They have a top 10 NIL fund now. Tulane would be David v Goliath. Incredible turnaround because of Cignetti. He’s the real deal. He built IU overnight into a heavyweight. They have the Heisman winner. The turnaround from zero to hero was the miracle. But personally I’d take 10 straight OSU championships over a single IU natty. Yes, I’m aware of my pettiness. The Big Ten proved itself already this bowl season.

I'm shocked quite a few people on here question why we don't root for them in football. I don't care if it's NCAA Squash...I'm not rooting for them. It's a RIVALRY. Ben Johnson has the right idea. Instead of/along with🖕the Packers, it's🖕IU/scUM/Iowa.

So you're rooting for Miami because . . . ? (fill in the blank)

It's always more fun to root for the winner so I'm rooting for IU. Plus, they have done an incredible job of raising the respect for the Big Ten and we all benefit from that. And to be honest, IU was a customer of mine and I made good money off them so I'll always appreciate them.
