Interesting tidbit - the WAC is using a "resume seeding" system (I think this is the 2nd or 3rd year, maybe?) for conference tourney seeds. Like the B1G, they have an unbalanced conference schedule (18 games, 6 double-plays and 6 single-plays) and use this system to account for that. Taking a more detailed look at the resume seeding page, it seems like non-conference results are included.

This means the outright regular-season champion, Utah Valley, is actually the 2 seed behind 2nd-place Sam Houston. Just thought that was interesting - I like that they're doing something different although I'm not sure I'd want to use it outside of tiebreakers.

I'm not sure I love that they are including non conference stats but that's interesting. These mid majors have so much on the line at this stage it's easy to forget

I would think the purple (albeit not easily seen in that image) would have been a giveaway. His name is Ace Purple, I believe.
You are right. The team of Jerry Sloan and Larry Hume from the 1960's. Coached by the great Arad McCutcheon.

Because Evansville is near the Oho River, Ace Purple is a riverboat gambler.

The team was very bad this year but maybe better days will come someday.

Craig Snow of Mt. Carmel circa 98-01 was I believe their leading scorer every year he was there. Played against him in HS for 4 yrs. Big 6-7 kid that could shoot it from anywhere. When I was just a little kid we used to go watch the Aces and I remember they had 2 yrs in a row where they had guys that averaged like 30 a game. It was exciting basketball for a young kid from smalltown IL to go and watch. Then it was only a couple years after that (or maybe even the following year) when the Illinois team with Battle, Gill, Anderson, Hamilton, etcetera went to the Final Four. Those 3-4 years of going to Aces games and watching Illinois on television shaped my relationship with basketball at a young age.

I'm rooting for all the B1G bubble teams to sneak in, except Michigan of course. Would love to see Hunter miss the tourney after all the crap he was talking making the sweet 16 last year. Here are all the bubble teams playing today with their bracket matrix seed in parentheses.

Oklahoma St (f4o) vs Oklahoma
Wisconsin (f4o) vs Ohio St
Pitt (11) vs Georgia Tech
NC State (10) vs Virginia Tech
UNC (n4o) vs Boston College
Arizona St (f4o) vs Oregon St

-Patriot League: Colgate defeated Lafayette 79-61. It is the Raiders' 6th NCAA tournament appearance, their 3rd straight and 4th in the last 5 seasons.

10 seed Louisiana Tech defeated 7 seed FIU in the CUSA Tournament 81-76 in OT.

Two lower seeds won in the A-10 Tournament with 10 seed Saint Joseph's defeating 7 seed George Washington and 11 seed La Salle defeating 6 seed Duquesne.

Both lower seeds won in the B1G tournament with Ohio State defeating Wisconsin 65-57 and Minnesota defeating Nebraska 78-75.

Regarding the Southland tournament, the tournament is being held on McNeese State's campus beginning this season. As part of the deal for McNeese State to stay in the conference after they were courted by CUSA and nearly moved to the WAC, the conference moved the men's and women's hoops tournament as well as the baseball and softball tournaments to the McNeese State campus.

There is a central Illinois connection on a team that has qualified for the tournament thus far.

Terrion Murdix of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi went to Springfield Southeast. He had originally committed to Chicago State before opting to go the JUCO route and went to Mineral Area College in Missouri. He later transferred to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi when former Purdue assistant Steve Lutz was hired as the Islanders' coach prior to the 2021-22 season. Murdix suffered a serious knee injury in the early moments of the Southland Conference tournament final.
