Scrolling through the comments to Charlie's tweet and seeing Illini fans give him stick for not picking us is so frustrating. Dear everyone, don't tweet at players when your mad they picked a different school!!! (not that anyone here would do that... surely) You just look like a sad, pathetic middle aged man who cares way too much about a 17/18 year old kid's college choice. Stop it!!!

Really not sure why we even remotely thought Moore would come here. All we heard was superficial talk, nothing indicating this huge desire to really consider Illinois....both times he was deciding. My thought is who cares. Doesn't bother me. I prefer recruiting players like Tilmon and Goodwin, and if they don't come I will be disappointed but I will respect their decision. Those recruitments certainly don't feel like Groce is getting played and respect is being shown both ways, to the players and to the school.

This. Not sure why some are creating a narrative that Moore chose Cal b/c there weren't schollies here. If a top 100 PG from Chicago had wanted to come, the staff would have found a way. That simple.

Why do people feel like we were being played? Choosing another school doesn't mean he's playing us. We would have taken him a few months ago but Lucas committed first. We weren't "played". What would have indicated a huge desire to consider Illinois? A few tweets, a couple mentions in recruiting videos (which are terribly biased due to the leads)? It seems like the most vocal recruitments haven't played out in our favor. Some people want "illini guys", whatever the hell that means. They're all Illini guys when they sign. We don't try to find Illini guys, we try to convince top players into becoming Illini guys.

In there 20's, 30's, 40's, etc. people who do this just haven't grown up yet. Possibly never will.
