What has Chester Frazier done or what is he known for at this moment in coaching other than being an alum? Maybe we want to work that area? But man, I have to say that this is looks like a step down from either of the two coaches we lost.

More than fills Chin's shoes. Read back a bit in the thread. Chet is a highly respected assistant.

In summary of reading the different threads for very, very commonly asked questions:

1. Chester Frazier is rather experienced and well liked coach.
2. Dee Brown will not coach at Illinois. Please stop asking why.

Hope that clears things up. Feel free to copypasta this for the next 100 times these topics are brought up.

He's one of the few alums out there who has actual legit credentials. Maybe not quite Roger level (yet) but he is a respected up and comer in coaching circles. If we can land a big name to replace OA I think we'll be at least as well off as we were before.

One thing worth noting is Chester seriously loves Illinois. I'd see him tweeting about players on our roster (e.g. Ayo, Curbelo, Trent, etc) all the time while he was an assistant coach at VT. He doesn't hide his orange and blue pride. Now he can put it out on full display.

Epitome of an everyday guy, to boot. Think the work ethic is gonna be pegged at 11.

I imagine this confirms he's coming on as a regular assistant rather than the Associate HC title he had at VT, right?
Watching the sidelines on timeouts last year, it seemed like the assistant coaches were heavily involved in coaching. Also, they were often credited for player development. I can't imagine the Underwood would show Frazier or any other coach less respect. I realize the title associate and assistant are different tiers, but I have to believe that Frazier is walking into a good situation, both in pay, and in experience, leading to a head coaching job in the future.
