McCaskeys have NEVER fired a guy during the season . They have publicly stated they don’t believe in that . They aren’t starting now
Agreed. It's gross negligence to allow, at very least, Waldron to keep his job. I can see having to keep Eberflus through the end of the year just because it's not feasible to have an entire overhaul mid-season. They don't have a coordinator that's competent enough to take over.

Poles isn't clean in this either. To go into this season with that offensive line....that's also negligent.

The only silver lining for me out here in the DC area is that the Steelers did to the Commanders what they did to us. I was at that game.

Boy would I love to hear the late great Doug Buffone's reaction to that game.

At this point the question really is what coaching arrangement is going to be able to maintain a professional non-toxic environment day-to-day at Halas Hall. I bring a certain degree of humility to that question, as it's hard to know without being inside the building.

Eberflus and Waldron very obviously do not have the respect, trust, or control over their players that is necessary, but half a season of an interim situation could destabilize things and set this powder keg off.

And I do have to say, I think the reaction to this game has been a little too forgiving of Caleb Williams' personal performance. He was absolutely horrendous yesterday, a number of those sacks were on him. His future success depends on coupling his big play improvisation with the little subtleties of keeping the chains moving in the NFL, and there's just no harmony happening between the two whatsoever.

What would be more destabilizing - a half season of interim or a half season of lame duck? Spoiler alert - there is no right answer.

This is all on Poles. Williams is now the third Bears first round QB in a row to have their rookie year saddled with a coaching staff on the way out.

Firing Eberfluss would be satisfying to fans but you would still have the same problems. The Jets are the same train wreck after firing Saleh.

By not firing the Bears’ Coach right now ASAP – Management is signaling to the players that they have given up on the season. With many games yet to go.

That conveys a message to players that Management doesn’t care enough to make a necessary change that everyone can see must happen. So if Management doesn’t care... players get the message that They do not have to care, either. This sets a really bad tone for the Organization and for the Locker Room.

And who would have believed at the start of the season that honest people would now be asking the question if Caleb would still be the Bear QB by Week Ten?
Almost no one would have thought that such a question could ever come up.

And if Players get the idea that They don’t have to care (by Management inaction, not by words of course)... doesn’t that increase the chances of the QB getting hurt by the end of the year?

And then where would this franchise be?

And as an old Washington Red(guy) told me, the players know the story and aren't going to be risking injury for the mess.

And according to Silvy, some players are calling for Bagent... I'm guessing the same players that back Nate Davis and Tyrique Stevenson.
I'm curious about this. Because is the issue that they just want a change for now, or are they trying to protect Caleb? He was sacked nine times last week. His confidence looks shot, and he needs time to work through it.

I'm guessing that the players are in the clubhouse, are watching practice, watched both QBs in preseason, and are talking to both guys.

I’d guess they think Bagent gives them best chance to win right now. Players don’t want to lose. Put the blame where you want, but the bottom line is that offense last few weeks has been bad with Caleb. The coaching change isn’t likely to greatly help in regards to Caleb’s performance, so players think Bagent is best option right now.

I’d assume part of Brown’s duties as passing game coordinator include working with Caleb. So his development and regression have been at least partially because of him. And not like he has a great track record calling offense with young, developing QBs. After all he was OC for Carolina last year.
