I am VERY grateful the Bears FINALLY have a competent coach in Ben Johnson, and a competent QB in Caleb Williams. This year is so much better than last year and most years in the past. That being said, WTF WAS THAT PLAY AT THE END?!?! Why, WHY do you, as the coach, call play action on 4th and 1, in the red zone, with the game on the line?! And then, when the play unsurprisingly breaks down, why do you, as the QB, even tho you got blessed with a clear path to run for the first down, run close to the first down marker, then stop, change your mind and decide you wanna play hero ball all of a sudden, and underthrow the ball into a game-ending pick?!?! WHY?!?! I seriously don't understand that last play - both the call and how it developed. Ugh... 😭

Front office needs to beef up the o line and need a stud pass rusher. The skill players on offense form a nucleus that could be a serious nfc contender for the foreseeable future. Caleb gets better all the time. Not there yet but progressing.

I think most of the resources during the off-season will need to be directed to the defense. I think they are hanging on by a string. They poured a ton of money into the D line and still can’t rush the passer. Edwards and Edmunds are getting old. The secondary can’t stay healthy, contract decision on Brisker is looming.

no disrespect to the old matriarch, but her being alive the last 15 years was NOT a positive thing for teams governance .
She did not like cheerleaders I think you said they were part of the football she remembered, nor did she care for the revealing attire they cheered in. She disbanded the honey bears, and we have not won a super bowl since...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. Bring back the cheerleaders

last play call was stupid

ground & pound was working fine . get the first down & then get cute for a play

had plenty of time & time outs
We also have to remember despite all of his success Ben Johnson is a rookie headed coach and is subject to rookie head coaching mistakes. All in all I am extremely pleased with there the Bears are now as an organization!!!

The first half of yesterday, the Bears did not appear to be worthy to be on the same filed as GB. The second half, they belonged. I hate losing, but am ok with this one. They showed adjustments and fight in the second half and had a legitimate chance to win.

ps- watching the reply on line, it was not nearly as obvious that DJ was wide open and the ball to Kmet was a good choice a second earlier. Just a late, short throw.

He was wide open, the throw was late and short. Throw that to the back pylon, and it's a TD, and maybe we go for 2 and win it. I can't put that on the coach even though I would have rather us run the ball there, but that play worked fine.

We are a year early and just went into Green Bay and physically dominated their defense in the second half. We showed we belong. This season has been a success. Get some help in the draft and free agency, and let's make a real run next year.

I get all that - I like Johnson & how Williams is getting better

but Ben should have known there was a pretty decent chance of getting 1 yard on a run play using Williams or Swift or Monangai.

get the first down and you have 3 or 4 chances to pass it in .

was just surprised he went for it all there and didn’t utilize the time he had

The bears are like the cubs. One good season about every 40 years and the front office is happy.

I don't believe that was Johnson's thought process. I believe that his thought process was: we can throw to Swift for the first, we can throw to DJ for the first, and Caleb can run for the first. I believe that Kmet coming SO WIDE OPEN was a happy accident, and Caleb got to it late because he was told that if he could, just run for it. He was giving himself four ways to get the first instead of just turning around and handing it off, after we had just been stuffed on the play before.

That is just the same thought process I have used in the past as an OC. I love boot when you have a QB that can run when you need short yardage, give yourself options.

I think they were pretty surprised to not get the yard on the preceding play. Probably factored into the decision.

Jaylon Johnson is not up to speed yet...probably gave up 2 touchdowns yesterday...we proved we belong though...

Rolling out to the left and making that throw is difficult as well.

Looking at the playoff standings, unfortunately the Bears fell to the seventh seed yesterday. The Lions are really the only team that can keep them out of the playoffs. Week 17 could very well be a lose and go home game.

TBH I wasn't mad with the decision to pass there. We had timeout but time was getting pretty thin & it's so hard to punch it in inside the 5. I thought pass there might catch Green Bay over committing to the run & could get the TD right then. Obviously it didn't work.

I'm surprised people are so down on Caleb. Last throw was bad, but he has pulled several out of the fire this year. He also makes a few electric plays each week. I see objective improvement from him. Once it all comes together I think he is gonna be really good.

Their offensive roster is such that this year is a development year still. Making playoffs & winning a game would be great. The best should be yet to come for them going forward.

yea, one could argue the last 25-30 years . they (her & Ed) kept the team in the mom & pop mentality long after the league had grown way past that .

i’m still expecting news one day about a partial or total sale of remaining family ownership shares
I think once Arlington Heights is open or close to open is when they will pull the trigger on a sale. Franchise value will be at it's max & the new stadium could either go with the team or the family could maintain a piece of the stadium ownership.
