Chicago Bears 2026-2027

Three interceptions called back because of defense penalties. This could have been a very different game but for Jets stupid mistakes.

It could have been, but the thing that I have loved about Ben Johnson from the start, and which has been golden for Caleb Williams' development is that he fully understands that playing not to lose with your quarterback is suicide.

You succeed on offense by running your offense. At no point has he tried to "protect" any of his QB's from their responsibility to do that.

One of them was a free play after the Jets jumped offsides, so it was a 50/50 ball.

On one, the intended receiver was held to the point it stopped his route.

The one that was questionable was hitting the DT in the chest with the ball on the screen. The RB for caught up in a heap. Bagent needs to just eat the play and throw it at his feet. Can't just assume the back will be there in that mess.

The pick when he threw behind Loveland was the only really bad throw. Three feet in front and it's a 30 yard pickup and three feet behind it gets picked by the safety.

He had a real nice game. Extremely efficient.

Bears had 34 first downs in today's game. The Jets offense ran 34 plays total.
Monangai had more carries than the Jets had plays. Bears had 81 plays to 32 for the Jets. 34 first downs to 7 for the Jets. Bears outgained them by 335 yards. The box score indicated like a 50-7 type of game. Bears did leave points on the field but had total control of the game. I’m very interested to see how they do in Green Bay. Lambau Field has been a house of horrors for 35 years.

Two were "go for it" plays, with the Jets having already committed a penalty. True He doesn't have Williams' arm, but he was pretty accurate. They will continue to be a running team, with clever passing to keep the other team off-balance. Defense is playing much better and compliments the offense.
But we need TURNOVERS!

Bears certainly don't have a qb problem. Nice.

Appears that Swift has been benched since that fumble.
I've thought for a while Monangai is the best option long term. Yesterday may have been the day that becomes official. Swift is good especially on passing downs as he is more mobile but I really like the way Monangai attacks the holes. Really good in short yardage. And if Swift is developing fumbleitis his role should diminish.

As Jimmy Johnson once said after he cut Curvin Richards (his 3rd string RB) entering the playoffs. "I can't play a guy I can't trust".

THIS. He's a fine back, but fumbling on the goal line vs Minnesota lost a game and his fumble yesterday with that game, at that point, hanging very much in the balance is just unacceptable. It's not like the ball was perfectly punched out or ripped away.....he was just loose with it. It takes a lot to get benched mid game in the NFL, but that did it. I thought that maybe it was his knee acting up, but when they brought Johnson in as the backup..... message sent. We'll find out how it was received.

What I like about Ben is that he doesn't give AF about new, guaranteed contacts. Earn your money.

I like it also. If this season is gonna go where we hope it does & it appepars at least feasible that it could, we can't have guys needlessly laying the ball on the ground in crucial spots. Thats how you lose games in the NFL.
