Hawks have the best prospect pool, according to The Athletic's Corey Pronman ($): https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/56...ackhawks-nhl-prospect-pipeline-rankings-2024/

am acutely aware that this doesn't translate into making us a playoff contender, but, hey, little victories, right? KFC has things moving in the right direction. BTW, Pronman's ranking of Nazar is almost as laughable as his ranking of Vlasic was last year.

Not Blackhawks-related by Johnny Gaudreau and his brother were killed by a drunk driver while riding their bikes yesterday. To make it even sadder, they were home for their sister's wedding which was going to be today

From what I read, the guy thought that the van, who was moved over and slowed due to the bikes, was blocking him in. Just tragic.

How did he have Vlasic ranked?
Just above Clausen

Not to be jerkin' your Gherkin, but I Relish the thought of NOT having to read through pages of Pickled humor. I've got Stackers and Stackers of reasons not to be Dill-ying about on this. It would be Sweet to just talk about something simple like Bread & Butter. Are we Kosher?

Can someone please explain to me why the Blackhawks would get into bed with Jerry Reinsdorf on the Chicago Sports Network when the Cubs and the Marquee Network, which already has hard-fought cable carriage, was another option?

The Bulls and White Sox are the single most pathetic and hopeless franchise in their respective leagues, there is absolutely zero interest in either of their upcoming seasons. The entire campaign to launch this network is being done on the back of the demand to see Connor Bedard play.

I will be very surprised if there is a Comcast deal for the new network any time soon. As for the streamers we shall see.

My guess is because they share the UC

Well, they are sinking billions of dollars together into that west side development. I assume they have a pretty tight relationship.
Fair enough, but the Blackhawks ought to look out for their own interests, and as soon as the NBC Chicago dissolution was announced, a marriage with the Cubs just seemed so obvious.

Maybe there was disinterest on the Cubs side, which would be shortsighted.

One MLB team and one NBA/NHL team is a pretty handy marriage from the perspective of scheduling a sports TV network. But maybe that entire concept just has no viability anymore. It's amazing watching all of this collapse.

I'm taking this as an opportunity to see what OTA HDTV has to offer, although I sort of assume they will axe the free OTA once they get carriage rights and/or streaming ironed out. Regardless, it's not a large investment and will make cutting the cord easier when I decide to do that.

Has anyone heard or have any idea whether or when the new network is going to be picked up by some major streaming services? I have Hulu Live and have no idea what is going on with that.

They've signed on with DirecTV and DirecTV Stream. Tonight's game will be streamed on the Hawks website

I dunno. Maybe I'm getting simple-minded in my old age, but I think the Blackhawks have the greatest-looking uniforms in all of sports.

Sure would like to see them on electrical television again real soon.

I watched a bit yesterday. Was on ESPN or ESPN+. Will try on Friday night when it's on the local network. I have successfully watched preseason games on ESPN+. Note that I am out of the Chicago market.

Man, the Blackhawks not being on TV is giving me flashbacks to my youth

And believe it or not... there was a time in Chicago when Blackhawk home games were not even permitted to be broadcast on RADIO. My family had to rig up antennas to try to pull in stations from Detroit... Boston... Toronto... with very marginal success depending on the weather. This was during the Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Ken Wharram, Pierre Pilote era.

Geez, the greed of some folks to worry that much about home attendance and losing money. In an era when that was never a problem anyway because it was nearly impossible to get home game tickets.
