Buddy of mine took his family to the game, hard to top this experience:

Another nationally televised embarrassing loss. Keep up the good work fellas.

the rapidly rising cap has turned Jones into a moveable asset. if the Hawks retain 25%, that puts Jones at $7.1M per. that's pretty good for a heavy minutes RHD. and Jones seems ready to waive for a contender. really hoping a deal can be made

From what I have read, looks like both Dallas and Colorado are interested. Dallas has the space to take him on, but Colorado would have to do some maneuvering. Obviously, he won't waive his full NTC to go to a non-contender.

Oh, Blackhawks. So sad their demise. I remember 61 champions, great teams since, Stanley Cups last decade. How long can I wait for a resurgence?

I'm old, skating on very thin ice.

The only thing I can do right now to help the team is to fly my 'Hawks flag. So be it. So it shall be done.

Scandals really crippled the franchise, I think.

I think Stan Bowman crippled the franchise more than scandals.

aging had something to do with it too

the scandal left a permanent blot on the club, to be sure. but it had very, very little to do with the rapid decline from the dynasty years.

also, scandals, as in plural? don't see it

Bowman grasping for straws instead of throwing in the towel (for a full rebuild) was a big mistake, albeit somewhat understandable

we all thought that when Rocky assumed control the Hawks would be perennial winners ala the Bruins . sadly , it lasted until 2016 and then he got sick and passed and Danny doesn’t really seem to have the same will to win as Rocky did .

They have been a huge embarrassment the past 5-6 years . what a disappointment

Like the North Side baseball team... the fans usually will fill the place anyway so there is little incentive for Management to do what it takes to put a winning team out there.

The best thing the Blackhawks have going for them has always been that iconic Blackhawk team crest.

But even that looks quite different today from when Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita and Glenn Hall and Phil Esposito were wearing it. I guess the man behind the crest has something to do with that.

Boston isn't making the playoffs and they quite likely are looking at falling off the table soon

Hawks: are you saying that Rocky getting sick had something to do with the Hawks' performance (decline)? that's absurd. the Rocky/Danny thing is a timing issue, pure and simple

full rebuilds take a long tiime

Scandal because things happened and management brushed it off; then scandal because of attempted cover-up. Scandalous. Plural.

one more thing (lol), full rebuilds are the way to go if the goal is to win titles

it was likely coincidental . but regardless , things after 2016 were not the same . Likely the sex scandal with the videographer was a big reason for mgmt losing focus . Rocky getting sick didnt help

Not to mention the salary cap.

It took Colorado 11 years in their rebuild to win the cup.

I’ll guess you’re not a Blackhawks fan. Or maybe not since Hull and Mikita left. There were many games in the 90s where the attendance was less than 10k. The only reason people are showing up last year and this year is to see Bedard. That’s it. If there was no Bedard on the Hawks, they’d be back down in the 8K range for attendance.

Edit: they were average starting in the 1996-1997 season then kept going downward and were horrible in the 2003-2004 season. They were not good again until 2008-2009 season. Many days of poor attendance until they drafted Kane and Toews.

Have we had a decent coach since Joel Quenneville? I’m not a huge hockey fan, but seems like he won everywhere he coached. We’ve got some good young players, do we have the coaches to develop them?
