When Hawks games go to OT, you might as well save everyone’s time and just give the other team the extra point and forget about the extra five minutes and SO.

Maybe - but the OT in the last game was very entertaining. There were great chances for both teams that were stopped by each goalie.
I wish the NHL just went to another five minute 3 on 3 period instead of the shootout.
the shootout is akin to baseball going to a homerun derby if still tied after the 11th . jmo

I’d be good with making it a tie if no one scores after five minutes of 3v3. I’d also be good if they did the 3 points for a win and 1 point for a tie like soccer does.
That analogy is spot on - and that might be why the shootout is popular.
It's like the only thing every schlub who's ever played street or pond hockey has practiced!
Maybe they should just pull the goalies after OT and throw a couple of these out there:

Hawks beat the Kings 2-1 in LA.
They looked pretty darn good tonight - got to watch on ESPN+ that got enabled with DirecTV as of tonight.
Knight was great.
O missed several chances that bounced off their goalie, right in front of the net.

I always wondered why they didn't decide to give 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an OT win and 1 point for an OT loss.

Watching Hawks at Ducks now. 90% of game is in Hawks zone. 33-8 shots mid 2nd.
Ducks very accurate and crisp passing, 2 notches better than the Hawks tonight.
Just went down 3-0. Hawks hustling, just a bit sloppy.
