i knew a 10pt lead with 6ish min left was not safe when Donovan subbed out Ayo for Coby. sure enough, Bulls loss to one of the worst teams record wise in the nba. Coby, leading in minutes while being the 7/8th worse efficient out of 9 to play (5-15, 1-5 3pt) meaningful minutes and 2nd worse +/- was blocked twice on forced drives in those final 5 min including last shot of the game

Ayo deserves to get paid and appreciated. hes one of the most (if not the most) consistent player on the roster and yet is often pulled at the end of the game. this feels like AK/BD forcing Okoro to justify the signing, and Okoro isnt even the biggest problem most nights but he doesn't bring a ton on a night by night basis to my eyes (I'm not fully convinced he is that much of a defensive upgrade from what Ayo has always brought)

ok, rant over .....
Hopefully, Donovan is playing Coby to shop him, he just needs to not $hit the nest...

Do SOMETHING...just don't trade Ayo. Trade White for a rim runner/protector (Messi?) Draft a SF and a defensive PG .

Be much improved!

Let’s face it the Bulls organization sucks
I say this as someone whose childhood was defined by the Jordan-era Bulls: I do not understand why people still support this franchise.

Even the Cubs with their superpower among casual tourist fans do not attract the rain-or-shine full houses and engagement when they stink that the Bulls do.

here, here, Gritty.

for myself, i honestly only started watching reg season games regularly (again, also grew up in 80/90s) after they drafted Ayo. they are so directionless its comical. and even in game, its baffling. but it has been enjoyable, if frustrating, to watch Ayo blossom into the player he is today

i dont hate Coby but he's not an alpha option and not consistent enough to be the foregone closing option - 4th quarter of last night's game is the latest example (Ayo was clearly the best Bull on the court for the 4th in terms if impact, Coby subs in 5 sec left in the game and chucked up a terrible shot)

He's going to get a huge bag in the summer, I just really hope he doesn't let sentimentality about his hometown team cost him the opportunity to join a championship contender.

We know Ayo, the brighter the lights and the bigger the pressure the better he's going to play.
I read somewhere he could get 4years 86 million

It is such a pleasure to watch how Ayo continues to develop his game. He is on a path to All-Star status one of these days. Such a credit to the Illini and the City of Chicago.

He would have to get starter minutes on a consistent basis for this to be even remotely possible.

Even the Cubs with their superpower among casual tourist fans do not attract the rain-or-shine full houses and engagement when they stink that the Bulls do.

I call BS on this claim. Wrigley is still packed even if the team is terrible. Only thing that potentially tampers attendance is the weather.

Hate to break it to you but even if Coby hadn't been first option, Vuc would have been the next choice (and his game winners this season shows why he's one of the better ones). And Coby didn't chuck up a terrible shot. It was a good shot. He has just struggled with hitting 3s consistently recently.

additional context- Ayo's 8th start of the year with a W on the road vs Mia. Bulls were crazy shorthanded (no Coby, Vuc, Giddey, Smith, Jones- 6 of 9 highest paid players). nice W and sniffing at a triple double while leading all scorers

Stacey King (with 39 sec left in the game)- "Ayo scored or assisted on Bulls' last 15 points"

and after tonight's 5/6 3pt effort, his season 3pt % is up to 46.6%...that is a dominant erupt

I think 3pt% is actually 45.4%, total fg% up to 51.8%....

Bulls part of a 3-team trade but are only part of it just to make sure the money evens out.

Bulls are getting the expiring contract of Dario Saric and two second-round picks as part of the deal. The main part of the deal involves DeAndre Hunter going to Sacramento for Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis.
