And it's incredibly easy to pitch to a team where there's a "Madrigal-Mastrobuoni-Amaya" rest area built into every trip through the lineup. One problem compounds the other.you cant win many games with just 3-4 hits

Remember when Michael Busch was giving people the right to question those who questioned the trade? Since his 5-homer streak:Remember when people were questioning the Michael Busch trade?
Haha, I'll concede the slump, and hopefully report back in a month or so with stats from a hot streak.Remember when Michael Busch was giving people the right to question those who questioned the trade? Since his 5-homer streak:

For the record, I thought there was a good chance he was overrated as a prospect but trade was well worth the gamble. Still probably feel that way, but no idea how the 2 prospects Cubs gave up are doing right now.
I hope so. Certainly not ready to write him off. He has talent, I just felt he’s been a bit overrated as a prospect last couple of years. Hope he puts it all together. Cubbies need him to produce.Haha, I'll concede the slump, and hopefully report back in a month or so with stats from a hot streak.
I guess my question was answeredKyle has zero margin of error. He's toast. Thank you for your service.
If and when Wicks comes back (can't assume anything with these porcelain dolls) something has to be done.
What is the least embarrassing for him ? Release or 8th reliever in the bullpen only used when game is out of hand? I suppose someone would pick him up if we retained 90% of his $16M.
Maybe, but the second and third time through, batters are putting up easy mode video game numbers this year.I don’t know - Kyle has gotten rocked fairly often in the first inning or two the last couple years
There’s also another factor here: Service time.
At ten years of service time in the big leagues, a few things happen for a player. For one, they become eligible for a full (very solid) pension. For others (if they’ve also spent at lest five years with the same team), they get 10-5 no trade rights.
Now, for a guy who’s made over $80M in career earnings and doesn’t seem like a likely trade candidate given his performance and the current trajectory of the Cubs, these aren’t huge deals. Factors, sure, but it’s more than that. For a lot of players, 10 years of service is one of the ultimate career goals – a true sign of one’s success and longevity. It simply means a whole lot to most players.
According to the MLB Players Union, fewer than 10% of all big leaguers reach the milestone. And many others have shared that sentiment before:
“The pension’s big, but I think it’s more of a respect thing,” said two-time All-Star Pat Neshek via USA Today. “It’s like, ‘Hey, I put the time in, I had a little bit of success, I was a good teammate.’ If you do any of those things wrong, you’re not going to stick around.”
“It’s a goal of everybody who comes into the game to get fully vested, get your 10 years in and ride off into your sunset,” added reliever Tommy Hunter.
As of today, Kyle Hendricks is just barely over five WEEKS away from reaching the ten-year milestone. The Cubs are going to do whatever they can to get him there, so long as it doesn’t completely derail this season. I’m pretty sure of that. And frankly, he deserves that much.
this offense is anemic right now. i know Fried is good but he has a perfect game going into the 6th. why not call up davis he's hot in AAA and can't hit any worse than any of these players. called up Vasquez to sit him on the bench? he cant hit any worse either
bummer. hadn't heard that
Now all you need is a rumor you might be going to the Cubs and you'll get hurt.
Tomorrow we're facing a guy who has a 6.10 ERA in the minors this year. Maybe we can get a baserunner by the 4th inning.this offense is anemic right now. i know Fried is good but he has a perfect game going into the 6th. why not call up davis he's hot in AAA and can't hit any worse than any of these players. called up Vasquez to sit him on the bench? he cant hit any worse either
Again, we all hate the bullpen, but the offense has been trash for weeks. Ever since Suzuki got hurt. He was off to an MVP start.
He hit the ball hard with no results in his first few games back but since then has looked bad. Last night he looked terrible. And he's looked completely lost since returning.
Nothing about his profile as a pitcher suggests a move to the bullpen will help. All of 4 hits today, and Hendricks still bad.
