When your cleanup hitter is batting .198 .............
Sometimes it's the offense AND the bullpen. One night it's the offense, the next night the bullpen. We're just treading water.
I think it more reinforces that the front office has not put together a roster worth a damn than that the coach is actually overhyped and not that good.Is the honeymoon period over for Counsell yet? It should be.
I'm not sure what he can do with a lineup that can't hit and a bullpen that can't get important outs.Is the honeymoon period over for Counsell yet? It should be.
I don't love his penchant for bringing bad relievers into mid-inning trouble, but given what he has to work with I'm not sure what he's supposed to do.Is the honeymoon period over for Counsell yet? It should be.
If the Cubs don't pitch a 1-hit shutout they have no chance of winning. I suppose Counsell is to blame that Jed gave him no closer.
Alzolay was never the long-term answer in the closer role. They needed to upgrade coming into this season. If Neris is supposed to be the closer, case closed. He had Alzolay who did well in the role last season and went out and got Neris who has previous closing experience. When players don't play to their potential, it's not all on the front office.
In his defense "bad relievers" is basically the entire 'penI don't love his penchant for bringing bad relievers into mid-inning trouble, but given what he has to work with I'm not sure what he's supposed to do.
Why? He has experience (5 shy of 100 career saves) and, compared to most of our bullpen, has a decent ERA this year. He's only given up 3 ER in his last 15 innings (1.80 ERA).Alzolay was never the long-term answer in the closer role. They needed to upgrade coming into this season. If Neris is supposed to be the closer, case closed.
I am beginning to question Counsel. When you have a pitcher in a groove, you sit him for 10 days? I understand wanting to limit his innings, so give him an extra day or two because of the rainout, don't just skip him in the rotation. We'll see how he bounces back.Catchers still can't hit a lick.....Morel still can't be batting cleanup.....and Hendricks is still really bad.
I'm sure glad Shota got those 10 days rest.
He gets to 10 years service time (full pension) in about 3 weeks. Out of respect, I think they're letting him hang on until then.I am beginning to question Counsel. As to Hendricks, I have a Hendricks jersey and it hurts, but he needs to go.
His ten year service date is July 10.He gets to 10 years service time (full pension) in about 3 weeks. Out of respect, I think they're letting him hang on until then.
Maybe the Sox can pick him up.His ten year service date is July 10.
I can’t watch them anymoreWhat a horrible, horrible send by Willie Harris
I only watched the bottom of the 9th. Considering the things that happened, I don't think they'll ever win again this year. What a horrible, horrible send by Willie Harris
Hard to argue with you.I only watched the bottom of the 9th. Considering the things that happened, I don't think they'll ever win again this year.
not sure but heard we've made 27 outs on the basepaths already, tops in MLB. not a good fundamental team with that and all the errors. What’s the record for getting guys thrown out at home?
