I understand it’s still early in the season, but PCA is on pace for a 40-2B, 40-HR, 50-SB season. Only 6 players in history have reached 40-40 HR-SB, and only one has reached 40-40-40. Of course Ohtani had 50-50 last year, which is insane.

PCA is way too cocky for me, trotting around like he's Babe Ruth. Antics. But playing great. Keep it up. Flash in the pan? Hope not. But pitchers may get wise to him. We shall see.

And while I'm on the subject, when anyone hits a long fair fly ball, don't stand there admiring it - run as fast as the devil to first base. I was taught that in Little League way back in the 1950s.

I can't tell if this is serious or not. But either way, the foul balls he sits there admiring have a better chance of landing outside of the stadium than in the field of play where he has to run.

And he is also the best base runner in the game who runs like a bat out of hell every time he is on base.

Something tells me you dislike kids playing on your lawn.

There is a fine line between cocky and confident. You have to credit him with being a complete player, as in addition to his hitting, he’s among the best on the bases and clearly one of the best defensive players in all of baseball.

Any guesses as to how Seiya responded to facing a major league caliber arm in the first?

Now 0-5 combined against Skubal and Flaherty.

What a shocker that he continues to humiliate himself vs top end arms

He just turned 23 years old. Let the young guy be a young guy for awhile. He's enjoying himself and he's enjoying the game. Let's not forget something, this isn't 70 years ago. People are paying hundreds of dollars for tickets to take their family to a game to be entertained. Fans go to the game to obviously watch 9 innings of baseball, but they also take the whole crew out for a day of fun.

The kids today want instant gratification. Baseball has fallen WAY behind basketball and football in terms of popularity. It's why they're trying to speed the game up, bring stolen bases and triples back in the game, etc. They know they have 2.5 hours of attention, max. They aren't marketing to the 50, 60, 70 and 80 year olds.

To keep the game afloat, they need personalities and action. That's what PCA brings. Nobody runs as fast as the devil as PCA. If he wants to pimp out a HR, so what? If he wants to be arrogant, so what?
There are VERY, VERY few MLB players that flair the athleticism of a guy like PCA. If you're the commissioner, you're PRAYING that you can get an influx of players just like him. Kids don't want to hear about hard nosed baseball from 1965. The game won't survive like that.

I'm in my late 40's and the only reason they care about me is because it's my age group who can pay for the tickets to get the kids in the game to TRY and ensure they have a next generation of fans.

What did Hoerner say that got him thrown out in a 2 second comment to Derek Thomas. Very short fuse. Then threw out Counsell in 10 seconds.
Hoerner claims he only said "You're having a really bad day". I wonder how long he'll be suspended ? 1 month, 2 months ?
Everyone has to realize that people only watch baseball to see an ump with 2 years experience perform.

An ump’s got to be able to brush that off. People paying $100’s of dollars to watch the front line players play.

My great grandpa in the 90's said Michael Jordan couldn't even compete with Bob Cousy I love this s**t lol.

Not to get too off topic but Bob Cousy had a 36% career shooting percentage not from 3 but from the field.

Wouldn't have happened with computer balls and strikes. Furthermore Hoerner would have either walked or homered. He would have had extra base hits all his following ABs, and the Cubs would have won. IMHO

He was having a bad day. His strike zone was all over the place and Happ was safe at home. That was a game-changing call.

A fun fact, but not really surprising when you think about. Game has changed so much. Obviously, improvements in overall athleticism, training and practice techniques, and, of course, how defense was played back then. I would love to have seen the reaction of players back then in response to how much complaining players do now. And flopping? Their reaction would have been “I’ll give you something to flop about.”

Checked out stats from Cousy’s rookie season. The leader in FG percentage that year shot .470. This year 62 guys shot better than that. Cousy shot ,352, finishing 9th in total points with 1078. The 4th and 5th finishers in points that year shot .316 and .322 from the field. Crazy how much game has changed. Thanks for going a bit of topic.

Umps will make mistakes but throwing out a player in 2 seconds when he was not showing up the ump, making a scene, only making a comment. That is totally under the control of the ump. There should be consequences for such an unprofessional, childish move by the ump. If Thomas simply said enough and left it alone and Hoerner continued then ejection would be warranted.
