I'll take Bob Dernier in center field any day. Defense. The Deer.

Pitchers have made the adjustment on PCA. He has some holes high and away and down and away.

Now he needs to make the adjustment and become a solid big league hitter. I believe he will. The question is will it be soon enough for this year.

I hinted at it way back in June.

Pitchers catching up to, figuring out hitters? Don't know for sure. Pitcher has the advantage if he's smart, I think, the more he faces the same batters.

Pitchers usually want to throw first pitch, fastball, down the middle for a strike. And dumb batter will take it, looking moronic waiting for "his pitch". I say pounce on that first pitch if it's a strike.

Banks, Santo, Williams seemed to do ok at the plate the whole season for many seasons. But I'm talking Hall of Famers.

Go Cubs!
you are talking hall of famers, and in this group Tucker is not far off that. The best players still do this for sure.

PCA will need to these adjustments at some point in his career, not yet but eventually. His chase rate is highest 1st percentile right now and that works sorta when your hand eye coordination is through the roof but pitchers are smart and will continue to make adjustments. I believe he will to.

I believe you’ll have to go to X to get all info since it is a thread. Several Cub draftees mentioned. Under the heading Good Draft or Not Really Deep Farm System, Cubs have 6 2025 draftees now in their top 30 prospects. I think it is a bit of both since I don’t think any Cubs prospect have been removed from list due to promotion to majors. Only 2 of 6 draftees added are pitchers, and Cubs top 30 is still light on pitchers with only 11 making the list.

The division will soon be out of reach. The way the Brewers are playing it’s more likely the Cubs lose 4 out of 5 than make some hay in the series next week. Even if the Cubs take 3 out of 5 it hardly matters.

Who cares?

Cubs 1st in rotation ERA since July 1st and still have lost 15 games in the division or so since then. Do you know why?

Tucker sucks
PCA growing pains
Seiya Suzuki absolute humiliating joke embarrassment

Can't win in this league with a pathetic heart of the order.

Just seems like when the Brewers got hot the pressure got to several of the Cubs key cogs and they just have collapsed
The multiple heaters the Brewers have been able to put together has been genuinely fascinating. Their health overall has been consistent, too.

I'm eternally hopeful as a Cub fan, and am curious to see how the remainder of this month and September turn out.

I unfortunately believe we are at that point. I'm becoming concerned about just making the playoffs now the way they are playing.
Could certainly happen, but in at least the last 10 games no one behind them is going crazy. Though looks like may soon fall to wild card #2 spot behind SD.

Brewers now have the most wins over a 30-game stretch in MLB history.

The Cubs certainly haven’t been great over the last 6 weeks or so, but it seems worse than it is because the Brewers are doing something that’s never been done before despite what looks like a pedestrian roster on paper.

As someone who feels like they know baseball, I still can't look at the Brewers roster and understand how they can be winning at the rate they are. Pitching is fantastic, so it keeps them in low-scoring games but their offense has just been unreal at the same time. Andrew Vaughn was absolute trash for the White Sox and now is hitting at an All Star level. Pretty crazy.
