It not so much a higher opinion of the Cubs, it's more than Colorado is absolutely awful. They're the worst team in the league by a lot. I agree that catching Milwaukee is highly, highly unlikely. Any hope would require 2 of 3 vs San Fran and all 3 vs the Rockies.
That's great and I love it. Comparing it with the past when the pitcher would have stayed in until the game was over or he gave up a run is silly.

Happ playing at all is doubly insane. Not sure what made him immune from seeing the bench for an extended period is beyond me. Why bother bringing Caissie up just to sit there and miss AB's in AAA.
Why is Busch still leading off? Is the ability of a leadoff man to take pitches no longer valued? It seems like he swings at the first pitch over half the time. A home run leading off the game on occasion is much better utilized down in the order with men on base. I'm beating a dead horse but Hoerner should be leading off.

This team is just chock full of unclutch hitters up and down the lineup.
We do have a lineup of poor situational hitters. I hope we sit Suzuki and play Caissie. He should get the majority of ABs for now. In the future, I hope Jed rectifies a mistake by offering no trade contracts. Huge albatross around our neck with Suzuki. I hope next year when Owen and Ballestros are here, that Jed goes to Suzuki and explains that if he wants PT, he might want to ask for a trade.

I don't get the Suzuki hate. He's got more HR and RBI in fewer games this year vs a full year last year. His career BABIP is .331 and last year was .370, but this year at .282 is a career low. This means that he has been very unlucky compared to prior years and is likely due for some positive regression.

The only way I've been able to ground myself in understanding where it comes from is willful ignorance of the statistical year he is having, or simply a cognitive inability to interpret his statistics when presented the data.
I choose to believe that, rather than the hate coming from a place of bias that I'd rather not accuse a random person on the internet of. Because he's having a career year.
Everything is intensified, in the case of Suzuki, Tucker and Happ (and even PCA), because of how bad they have been the last 2 months. Their statistics as a whole aren't bad (except for Happ), but that causes everyone (including me) to be more critical. Sort of a what have you done for me lately when the Brewers never lose.

They've got Blue Jays/Phillies while we've got Rockies/Braves.. have to make up AT LEAST 3 games there or I'm not seeing much of a path. Just not enough games left even with the easy schedule.
Sorry to say they were just swept, put a fork in them, they're done. Was entertaining until it wasn't.
They are not clutch. They pound teams when they get a lead but cannot manufacture runs to pull out close games. Not a formula for winning in the playoffs.
