Don’t remember where I saw it. He’s a great glove and hits lefties well. Might mean the end of Justin Turner, though. Can’t see them keeping both guys but maybe.🤔
Do they still expand rosters in Sept? I think that might have stopped, but not sure. If not, you have to think Turner will be gone. Don’t know how you can limit your flexibility by keeping 3 guys who are strictly first basemen. Seems like Turner is a good clubhouse guy, but have to go with production and Santana bring a switch hitter is a plus too.

Elijah Morgan had a nice inning at Iowa — one walk and two Ks. Not sure how close he is though with him going 3 to 4 days between appearances (Iowa appearance was Aug 27). Hodge threw well in Aug at Iowa — 9 appearances, 12 innings, 20 Ks and 0.00 ERA. Still having an issue with walks with 9. Could be some help coming for pen if needed.

Looks like rosters expand to 28 in September so they can keep Turner if they want to. Why not keep him and see what happens during September? You can leave Turner off the playoff roster but still have him in the clubhouse (if allowed) during the playoffs.

I like how they're looking at the expanded rosters. Take a flyer on a couple guys and see if one of them hits. If not, bring up more AAA bodies.

I call for an end to bringing Palencia into a tie game in the 9th. That doesn’t seem to work.

The Reds aren’t going to catch them, and they aren’t going to catch the Brewers either. The most likely matchup is a first round wild card series against either the Padres or Dodgers so it is essential they maintain the top spot. The trade deadline acquisitions are more underwhelming than they originally seemed. Rodgers and Kittridge have been meh, Castro has been a disaster at the plate, and Siroka hasn’t been available. PCA was an MVP candidate two months ago and his season has cratered. Tucker had a great road trip and Suzuki and Happ even show signs of heating up. I hope Boyd isn’t hitting a wall. You just have to hope they can get hot when the playoffs start. I think they will end up with about 92 wins.

The dog days are over and we can officially turn the page on the summer months. The cubs demise over the summer is grossly exaggerated and it is time to get/stay healthy and finish strong. Here are the records of all the teams over .500 for the 3 summer months.

Brewers-54-25
Blue Jays-49-30
Red Sox-48-30
Astros-44-35
Padres-44-37
Rangers-43-36
Phillies—43-36
Cubs-42-37
Dodgers-42-37
Tigers-42-37
Mariners-42-38
Yankees-41-39
Reds-40-28
Royas-39-37
Mets-37-42

Truly outside of the Brewers/Jays/Red Sox combo the Cubs held ground with the rest of the league. It is a LONG season.

Rogers to Harris:

Curve ball strike 78 mph
Curve ball strike 78 mph
Curve ball foul 78 mph
Cave ball DOUBLE 78 mph

Seriously? Throw a high fastball after strike two. Change the speed!!!!

Minor league stuff

Turner should be playing 16 inch softball. A ground ball to deep short and he gets about half way to first base. I’m growing weary of watching this old man trying to play baseball.

Let Busch hit. At least his defense is solid. The old guy has a range of 3 feet when playing the infield.
